Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

I vote hell yes.

Public Enemy are not gangsta rap, in fact, they're about as anti-gangsta rap as you can get.

Public Enemy do political and social commentary songs, when they do songs about "thug life" it's from a much more cynical point of view than gangsta rap.

Blur never really made it big in the US. I don't think they got much notice until the late 90s, Song 2 was a big hit here as well as Coffee & TV but that was pretty much it. If I remeraber correctly Modern Life is Rubbish didn't even make the US charts at all.

I never understood why this Blur vs Oasis feud went on like it did, I mean I understand why the media hypes these things and that it was good publicity for these banRAB, but what I want to know is why in the f*ck would anyone be on the Oasis team? And how anyone in their right state of mind could declare Oasis the winners.

If I were to vote I'd probably vote yes at this point, since everyone here seems to be suggesting he is an artist of quite some distinction...it seems like he is probably in anyways!

Wasnt it like G&R was one of the first banRAB stepping away from the glam, long hair, & makeup banRAB of the 80s, they were cooler..as to say, with a new and different attitude.
They did change the trend of things concerning rock music in the day,
Rock & Roll cowboys wearing bandanas, leather, cowboy hats, snakeskin boots, more casual dress, motorcycles.
At the time, you were more hip if you rode with G&R, and their style of rock was.. different.

I was undecided there for a while, mainly because I've never been that big into 'em. I went back and listened to a few tracks and I can see why I never had the urge to pursue them further. Not really doing much for me I'm afraid.

Internet's been down folks, soz.

Mars Volta do not get in. Next up from FaSho... THE GREATEST BAND EVER.

The Smiths

Putting aside that they are my favorite band, I really think they deserve a spot, because first of all, they were able to push away all the cheesy 80's music being released at the time and make something just plain amazing, also they're one of the few banRAB where everything they release is solid, and I know there are people who don't like them much on rab, but their influence aone should get them in.
On a personal note, they really show my experiance as an rab meraber. When I joined this forum I liked banRAB like Sum 41 and the like, and when I got Meat Is Murder, it changed my whole outlook on music, and now my taste is far more mature, and well...better.
I hope this is enough of a write-up, because they really deserve a spot.

Yes, Ode To Joy brings back memories of learning to play recorder in elementary school. The Glenn Gould edition is really great the whole way through.

A little like Bulldog I'm yet to truly get into Pink Floyd. Whenever I go through their discography I find it's met with a lot of indifference in places, in a way I just keep expecting to put Piper on one day and for it to just click, for me to get it and realise it was genius all along but so far that just hasnt happened. I dig Saucerful Of Secrets and Dark Side Of The Moon among others but even though I'm far from being the Floyd fan that a lot of merabers of this site are I simply cant vote no and I'd love to hear the argument of anyone that does.

Definite yes.

I think i'll vote yes in the end. They're a great band at the end of the day (not just for ITAOTS) and they DEFINITELY don't deserve to lose by this much at all.

Also i've basically ran out of nominations to put up, if anyone wants to contribute anymore i'll be a thankful man!
