Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

I don't think elitism comes into it at all.

I wasn't bought up on stuff like Led Zeppelin , Pink Floyd , Queen or stuff like that when I was growing up , and I remain indifferent to a lot of that stuff now.

I'm not like that to be different of elitist , most of that stuff genuinely does nothing for me musically.

No we still got a few more few before the vote. 6 or 7 banRAB need to get past round one first.

Leaning towarRAB no limit for votes, public poll and 2/3 majority to get in.

Mars Volta have taken a traditional 70's Prog rock/ fusion template and made it heavier. No matter how good they are musically they are still a mish mash of many artists. The whole point of a HOF is to have artists that have broken the mould or who were one of the originals in the scene etc. Mars Volta are not that for me. I consider a band such as Kayo dot to be far more deserving but i know that they wouldn't get in so I don't worry about it :D

You click on the nuraber (if it's underlined). Cause the Poll creator can choose to keep the votes private.

Well I do think Beefheart is overrated, TMR is a great album but I have to be in the mood for it and I rarely am nowadays, if I want to listen to some weird atonal avant garde stuff then I find artists like The Residents, Mr. Bungle, Glenn Branca and Henry Cow to be more satisfying. I have to appreciate Beefheart no matter what because he's influenced so many artists that I like, but it happens that I prefer a lot of these artists by a good deal.

Brad Stengel, CAPTAIN CAVEMAN, Double X, dreadnaught, ImGettinThatFaSho, insinkerator, Inuzuka Skysword, jackhammer, LesPaul43, Minstrel, Mr Sensitive, sweet_nothing, swim, The Monkey, WaspStar, Wayfarer, wolverinewolfweiselpigeon, zneergz

Who the Hell are these people?

It may come as a shock to you, but we don't all listen to the same music. If that's what provokes your departure I'm not sure if you ever understood why most of us keep coming back here in the first place.

Personally I don't really care for some overrated rapper whose biggest claim to fame is getting shot to death. His two mediocre albums don't do anything for me. It seems somewhat childish voting for someone who has no real influence on the genre except for the continuing fad of inciting gang violence.

So no.

Lol, that wasn't aimed specifically at you FaSho, just generally to the people who have moaned about past nominations etc.

Still, it's a mystery why rab has censored the word SexyBeast

Zappa is in though he just misses being the most popular nomination yet.

Next up from Alfred..

The Clash

The Clash have been one of the most influential and inspiring banRAB in the history of punk rock, if not rock period. For a punk rock band, The Clash's music was complex. They were dubbed the "Thinking Man's Yobs" because of their political views that expanded beyond anarchy, unlike many of their peers. Along with punk rock, the Clash mixed a wide variety of genres into their sound, making them extremely diverse. This became more noticeable as their career went on. There's something in their sound for everyone.

You may hate U2, but I think The Edge put it best when he said "The Clash were the shit".

Forgot about that bit. I was listening to Decals and Trout Mask an insane amount when I did that write-up. Funny how the day I give Beefheart a listen again after a long break my nomination for him pops up here as well. Spooky!
