Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Nominations Thread

How about Rush? Aren't they one of the greats of progressive rock? They seem like a group with enough universal appeal (at least in North America) to have a shot.

I'm going to vote Yes because I like Muse and I think they're very good at that poppy prog stuff they do. Also: there are going to be many, many, "no" votes, so I feel the need to show some support.

Well I do recall Albarn saying that he wished he killed Cobain personally.

I dunno, call it a hunch.

Modest hits, not a lot of lasting popularity like Song 2 had, I never hear them on the radio, but Song 2 is very much a modern rock/alt rock radio staple now.

I just don't care for Pink Floyd that much. Granted its because over the years, overexposure to it via frat boys and classic rock radio has pretty much destroyed the emotional value I attatched to it, but either way, shouldn't be in the hall of fame. They had a really short shelf life for me.

Yes it does when it comes to the site's Hall of Fame. The idea of it all is to picks banRAB that represent the site's overall taste. It has nothing to do with your musical knowledge.

I suppose it's a difficult one, you have to balance between whether you think they deserve to be in there and your own personal opinions.

Also, I could do with people sending more nominations, would be very grateful!

I thought this was a poll to determine our favorite banRAB here? Influence should not be a factor; I don't think anyone who voted "no" (including me) would deny that Led Zep was an incredibly influential (and popular) band, but this isn't a "most influential artists" list. If it was, then Elvis Presley and Bob Dylan would be in the top three, and I don't think that's going to happen here (and it would be somewhat boring anyway; talking about music is best when you're talking about subjective topics).

I liked the instrumental tracks from In The Aeroplane... but the rest of the album didn't do it for me. Mangum's voice alway seemed to ruin the atmosphere of the music for me. I vote no.
