I love Russians, but I'm Canadian. I respect your people's intelligence.

Probably the same way that people make friends anywhere in the world. By being interesting, nice, charismatic, respectful, etc.

As for taboo...uhh I guess nudity in public is a big one.

Depending on which part of the states you're going to your experience will vary greatly.

Many states have different demographics which reflect "unpleasent traits."

Just some last advice. Don't go out at night on your own until you know the city well or you might end up in a bad neighbourhood. This isn't just for USA but any country.

my family moved to russia when i was little. but i ll be studying in us for college. how do people make friends? what is considered taboo and what not? any unpleasant traits or behavior? who would you be friends with? what do you like to talk about?

The best way to know is to just go there. Americans are pretty laid-back. Just don't get too close to people you don't know, as over here people like their personal space. Observe behaviors of others, but always be polite and respectful.
