My husband has been thinking about his own tech start-up and wants to move to CA (SFO) to be in that "start-up" culture.
We are currently in NY and he doesn't like it here as much (even to work in a corporate, in the long run), as he is a total techie and NY is mostly about Finance. I checked that it is not bad for me to find a job either and we don't have kids.

I would like to know: Which areas of CA are most known for budding tech entrepreneurs? Does SFO offer this? Or will living in San Jose/Sunnyvale/Mountain View make more sense?
I think a few tech conferences do happen in SFO, but do you see a lot more of that (like in every starbucks ;)) in other places?

We are ready for a smaller apt etc. if SFO is "The Place" to be.

As a person who was born and raised in San Francisco and now lives in southern California, I must warn you that the state is in a bigger financial crisis than most. I intend to move back to San Francisco one of these days because I miss my home. However, in terms of economics, I would move elsewhere. Try Houston or Atlanta.
