Most Underrated/Overrated Artists

I don't know. I love them and think they are a great band, but I also formed my opinions about them back when they were a current band still putting out new music. So you and I are certainly approaching them with two very different points of reference.
 
Aw but I put Pinback in a league of their own and I find it hard to compare them to any band I'm familiar with. They're pretty unique and exciting to me.
 
David Gilmour rocked the **** on "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" and "Division Bell". I find it hard to believe people don't enjoy those albums. They are just pissy that Waters left...get over it.
 
Britpop was shit, Suede, Pulp, Elastica, Supergrass didn't do it for me. Oasis weren't even Britpop as such, they were just plain rock but meh. I like them and Blur from that movement. Grunge has Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. They're probably a little better but I can't choose between them. Blur and Oasis vs Nirvana and Alice in Chains. Either way, I'm glad to see the back of Britpop.
 
actually, most metalheaRAB despise static-x. I can't possibly tell you why, because I like 'em.
EDIT: I don't think I'd even classify Static as metal, hard rock if anything, though that is debatable.
 
Yeah, perhaps I'm just missing the boat here. Although upon reading a couple of reviews about that live album, it sort of seems like everything I look for... I don't exactly know how hearing the same songs live is going to change my opinion on the band but I can always hope, can't I? :)
 
I'll admit he's a LITTLE bit overrated (after all, he's only released 1 1/2 albums not counting covers and live) but he is really amazing.


Overrated: AC/DC
 
Whenever I hear about great modern day rock banRAB, no one ever mentions them and they, imo, are a phenomenal rock band.



Another underrated artist in my opinion is SWANS.
 
Overrated: Animal Collective

Underrated: Ben Harper. I really think Ben doesn't get enough credit today as a good musician, however, if he got too much I would probably hate it. In any case he is definitely one of my favorite musicians of today.
