1) Delroy Lindo - fine actor who just does not get the recogniton he deserves.

2) Kevin Bacon - one day this man will get an Oscar IMO, his talent deserves it.

Christopher Lee in my opinion is underrated. For the amount of films that he has done & been part of some of the biggest blockbusters. He surely is well overdue the lifetime achievement oscar.

I have to agree with a lot of posts on here:

Delroy Lindo (get shorty / heist, quality)
Paddy Considine (a room for romeo brass...what can i say?)
Christian Bale (harsh times made me fully appreciate him)
Joaquin Phoenix (i can watch him in anything, utterly compelling)

And i'm a fan of Pacino waaaaaaaay more than De Niro but thats for another thread.

Another vote for Michael Sheen here - who would think the same actor could convincingly play Kenneth Williams and Tony Blair.

Also William H Macy who has such a beautifully understated style, and Frances McDormand.

Ryan RenolRAB. With the right material he could be the leading comedy/romantic lead of his generation in the same way that Tom Hanks was in the late 80s.

Also a good shout whoever mentioned Forest Whittaker, he was unbelievable in Last King of Scotland.

He is a phenominal actor but does someone who has won a Best Lead Actor Oscar count as underarated? There is no higher validation of somones acting so I would say no. I am not sure how everyone else defines underated but to me it is an actor that neither recieves the critical and/or public acclaim there work desserves.

I agree whole heartdly with William H Macy,
and would also say Ray Winstone and Danny Dyer are both pretty underated as I know people who tend to overlook there talent because they are not classicly trained and in Danny Dyers case because of the films he makes, but both are amazing. Winstone a lot more so than Dyer, but he has a good few years on him, so I dont think we can hold that agianst Danny.

Also I think Kath Burke is just incredible, her performance in Nill By Mouth broke my heart.

David Thewlis in Naked is possibly one of the greatest ever performances by a lead actor and yet were was the Oscar nomination?

Robert Carlisle. He is very good with accents and playing completely different characters rather than playing himself in role after role like Hugh Grant.
