Most shocking or disturbing film?

Irreversible. Horrid little movie. Couldn't see the point of it either other than an attempt at trying to out-gross all competitors. Yes, I KNOW rape is a vile and abominable thing, I don't need to be subjected to 9 minutes of it.
Animals. A animal lib film from 1981 that had hidden camera footage of what goes on in labs and abbatoirs. Absolutely heartbreaking and gross. Tuly shocking. Still banned.

Agree with both, I read a Clockwork Orange before I saw the film and found it tame in comparison!

Really upsetting film.

That bit got me too.

Totally agree!

Also Eraserhead and Audition. Horrors don't shock me as that's what I want when watching one but I agree with the poster about the rape scene in Hills have Eyes, also the baby being born. And the original Vanishing, the Dutch version, really weirded me out when I first saw it.

Well i wasnt forced lol, we had the choice to go out while it was on if we wanted, and it was switched off before the beach scene started, we only saw a little bit of shooting, but it still scared me lol :o

Battle Royale is fantastic, hopefully the remake has fallen through because New Line bought the rights I believe but didn't the company New Line finish?

The Virgin Spring is excellent, Wes Craven's version Last House on the Left has a remake out soon.

Urosukidoji - The Legend of the Overfiend, that brings back memories (I bought it on VHS when it first came out, before various calls to ban it, finally saw the full version when a mate bought the Perfect Collection Boxset and boy did we get fleeced with the Manga release in the UK), but nothing I've seen (including many banned and uncut films) quite compares to:

That's just your opinion tho. "Comical"? I didn't find it remotely funny.

Another disturbing movie that springs to mind is The War Zone with Ray Winstone. There's one particularly shocking scene where he
analy rapes his own daughter.

I still haven't finished Irreversible. Don't know if I want to. My brother and his mate told me about the rape scene. Once I'd seen the fire extinguisher bit, I imagined the rape scene would be just as realistic, and I haven't finished it.

Blimey, having looked at the IMDB for the Oxen one and the Men Behind the Sun above, it seems like the Japanese lead the world in the 'truly horrific films' category. One review said Cannibal Holocaust was a picnic in comparison, and I'm inclined to believe him, I couldn't even finish reading the synopses! When it's so extreme like that I find it really hard to understand why anyone would want to see it, what do you get from it?

It's awful. Took me a long time to get that scene out of my head. I've got Cannibal Holocaust in my collection, Exorcist is one of my alltime favourites, so it's not like I'm some gibbering jellyfish hiding behind a cushion you know what I mean? Yet it absolutely sickened me. If you do decide to watch it, I'd advise watching it without your OH present.

Of course it's my opinion - who's else is it going to be!?

The same as pai pai found SC more disturbing that Deliverance, that was their opinion which you jumped on as 'unbelievable'.

The 'comical' aspect was a grown man snivelling like a young boy in his big white underpants whilst the redneck held his ear like a naughty schoolboy. He then had him snuffling on the forest floor like an actual pig before slapping his rump and going to town on him. There's plenty of black humour in that.

it is the movie that got me into manga as a teenage boy, i found it exciting and disturbing at the same time, ive seen it about 6 times, loaned it out to a few frienRAB and they all loved it as well.:)

As above ^^^ Irreversible

A French movie called Taute Tension, or Switchblade Romance as its known in the UK

and, Last House On The Left :eek::eek:

I reackon that Eden Lake is gonna be a shocker :D

Cutting Moments
August Underground Mordum
Begotten
Murder Set Pieces
Guinea Pig 2:Flowers of Flesh and Blood
Cannibal (Marian Dora)

IMDB them, but please dont watch them if you find anything mentioned in this thread shocking or disturbing. I didnt enjoy watching any of them im just interested to see how far people will go to shock, there was a point in mordum that made me want to turn it off, the only thing in a film thats ever made me feel that way.
