Most shocking or disturbing film?

CH is the film that freaked me out the most and I don't know if I have ever seen the full uncut version. Most versions have the scenes when animals get slaughtered(some of which was actually real) heavily censored.

When Cannibal Holocaust was released the director responsible was actually hauled up for prosecution in Italy on murder charges because they thought the murders in the film were real as the director told the actors involved in the film to stay out of the limelight to generate maximum publicity. He had to bring the actors on a tv show to avoid life in prison:eek: and even after that it was still banned. I doubt I would watch it again.

The bit where he kills that homeless girl by shoving a massive knife up her "area" is just horrid!!! :eek::(:cry:
 
The thing that annoyed me about Texas Chainsaw Massacre was that I was very bored, then it ended, so I checked the extras out and the trailer was there. Basically, anything good from the film happens in the trailer, meaning you could watch a better version of the movie just by watching the trailer, and leaving the main feature behind.
 
Another vote for Man bites dog.....

I can quite easily sit through hollywood violence and not feel anything as often its really OTT, but I think its the way MBD is done in black and white and also as a documentary - its a real mix there is some comedy and then obviously some really dark stuff.... The house attack is the bit I remember.
 
This thread is a pretty disturbing read, there's a few on here that i've never heard of but will be digging out, although my gore thirst has simmered somehat of late and it's partly down to the film i'm going to add to the list. I've been a gore fiend for years and became totally desensitised. Or so i thought.

A few months ago a friend of mine came round and asked me to look up a russian biological center up on the internet, he had to go but i had a browse on the net for it and ended up stumbling across some information on Unit 731 (and Wiki) I spent the rest of the day reading up on this place with jaw on the floor and my heart in my mouth. It's truly disturbing what the japanese did to the chinese and russians in the name of war and domination.

I also found out about a film that had been made about it, and searched it out to watch the next day. It's a gruesome, horrible film, with some scenes that even as a gore lover i really struggled to watch, including using actual cadavers for the gore, and killing animals ( i'm not sure about the cat scene, and it's a source of contreversy, but there were definitely a shitload of rats set on fire in one of the scenes) The pressure chamber scene was just awful and the whole thing is unsettling (partly because what they show, and much worse actually happened) to counter this the version i saw (which is 'availlable' on the net) had an american voicover which can only be classed as hilarious! So one minute i was trying not to meet what i'd eaten that morning, and the next i'm forcing back belly laughs at the cheesiest of cheesy American accents! It's hard to watch and not in the slightest bit enjoyable but has to be mentioned.

Recommended, but not. If you know what i mean!
 
I've never been disturbed by a commercial film. No matter what's on the screen I know it's a movie and not real, so it doesn't affect me like that.

On the other hand, I refuse to watch things like hostages having their heaRAB cut off on newsreel or propaganda footage as, 1) I'm not ghoulish enough to want to watch such a thing, and, 2) why would I want to aid some extremists agenda by playing their game?

Funnily enough was looking about Salo the other day, read there was a few versions of it, sounRAB quite shocking though.
 
I just came in here to post 'The War Zone'. I watched it last night, and it is indeed very disturbing.
Brilliant film, but very hard to watch, and I almost felt breathless afterwarRAB.
 
Gummo is definitely the most disturbing film I've seen. The movie to watch is shocking as well as what you hear and what is implied, it's also very perverse (and not at all in a good way), the animal abuse is horrendous (to cats) and I think that is the thing that made me hate it the most as I really don't like to watch anything that involves the horrendous killing of animals. The dark heavy metal music also gives it a really grim feel which just adRAB to the overall disturbed feeling you get when you watch this movie.
 
The only film that has bothered me in my adult years is EVENT HORIZON.
Watched it with frienRAB and was really enjoying it until they watch the ships footage of what had gone on and everyone is going nuts.
Still fine at this point but then there is that brief shot of someone putting their fist in their mouth and punching the back of their head out.

For years after i could still see it in my head. Same goes for a friend of mine who loves horror, the sicker the better. That scene really got him too. Can't watch the film again.

My little bro has seen it and wasn't fazed at all.
 
Saving private Ryan is pretty bad in places especially the bit where the german kills the Gi with a knife in a bombed out building, Didn't like that too much!!.
