Most Overrated Films

Oh, God, yeah, you're right. The Exorcist is just a load of crap. It's not scary in the slightest. I've heard stories of people vomiting in the cinema aisles when it came out. C'mon, it's not that bad, but is is pretty boring - not boring enough to make you puke, though.

I can't tell you what happened in the end. I can't remember, because I think I'd fallen asleep by this point. I imagine it involved a shaky camera, someone crying, and that's about it.

A lot more is explained in the sequels, and it all fits together rather well, I think.

One of my favourite films. I thought it had to be preachy. Living in the UK, you forget that race is such a big issue elsewhere. We're generally fairly tolerant and well integrated in this country. In the US, it's a massive thing, being of a different ethnic origin. I felt they handled the fim very well, and Edward Norton was brilliant.

If you don't like it then why don't you just go find some place else to play? Cos you are really starting to get on my nerves now. You obviously have no interest in this thread so why bother coming in just to pour scorn over the content? It's not even that you're offering YOUR opinion because your only intent seems to be to try to attack and belittle those who are enjoying this "discussion". Nobody is saying anything is wrong or right ... we are merely exchanging our views and opinions ... some agree with others, some don't ... it's what makes a diverse and in MY opinion, an interesting discussion ... which yes, I AM interested in what other people think. I find the diversity and varying opinions on this subject fascinating .... as I'm sure other contributers do else they would just not bother posting!

Forgive my stupidity but I joined here recently (I guess I should apologise for this also, for boring you with something you have obviously seen before, of which being new, I would not be aware of!) under the belief that this was a forum for anyone to discuss whatever they want to discuss. There may be other threaRAB which I have no interest in but I wouldn't dream of entering them and telling them how pointless they may or may not be because unlike you, I actually respect other peoples interests and choice of subject discussions!

Obviously I was misinformed as to what a discussion forum is for and was lead here under false pretences. Silly me!!

You say " It isn't a discussion, it's simple stating of opinion with a few "you're wrongs" thrown in for good measure. " Why should that bother you if other people want to enjoy partaking in this??

I would ask what I have actually ever done to YOU to deserve this, but I really can't be assed with people like you and that is my last word!

You haven't done anything, any more than anything I said was ever personally directed at you.

A wise person once said 'you'd worry a lot less about what people thought of your posts when you realise just how little they do it'. Again, that's not directed personally at anyone, and I certainly include my own posts within that statement.

Life's too short to worry - read what you want, say what you want, ignore what you don't like, move on, be happpy.

I was just saying to a neighbour as we watched the trailer for "Burn after Reading" (is it?), that the only funny bits are likely to be in the trailer so there's no need to waste a couple of hours watching it.

Now that you've mentioned it, I completely agree.

Can you be more wrong with Fight Club? It's seriously under-rated, Shirley?

You're so right about Juno. The whole scenario is completely unrealistic, and I wanted to give her a good slap too. Her parents' reaction to hearing the news was just bullshit - "You're pregnant. That's not good. What are we going to do about it."

Maths humour... :D

*Cue parade music* - Yay!!! Someone ELSE who thinks Blade Runner is shite! Nice to meet you. :D

Are you mental? No, no, seriously, are you mental?

Lock Stock and Snatch are incredible films. Exciting, witty, and British.
Reservoir dogs has one of the best screenplays of all time.
Forrest Gump is my favourite film.
Withnail and I is bollocks - you're right about that one at least.

ET was both ground AND heart-breaking.

Any Bond film? Shirley not Casino Royale, or Goldeneye?

Oh, and Ali is one of the most boring films I've ever seen in my entire life. It was close to Gangs of New York in the sleep factor.

Casino Royale was terrible but it was like everybody gave it good reviews because they thought they had to. IMO it was shit and Daniel Craig looks like Jim fixed it for him to be James bond for the day.

I feel you're confusing "wrong" with "taboo".

They treat homophobia, extra-marital affairs, and materialism as wrong. They treat smoking pot and fancying the daughter's friend as taboos.

Its amazing how we all don't agree. hehehe

How can anyone not like Forrest Gump, that amazes me. Its one of the best movies of its generation. I also loved American beauty, thought it was a great movie.
