Most emotional ending to a film you've seen?

It's a wonderful life
The Colour Purple
E.T.
Breakfast at Tiffanys
Miracle on 34th street (original version)
An affair to remember (original version)
The Champ
Home Alone
Jerry McGuire
Love Actually
Strawberry Blonde

Has anyone else seen Life is Beautiful? That had me in tears as well as laughing when really you should have been crying. Excellent film.

The part where he's at the fence and his wife and daugters are on the other side, then he realises they took his son.

That's such a powerful scene.

Not the "end" but towarRAB the end lol!

I cry at the scene in "Stepmom" when Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts are talking about looking after the kiRAB when Susan dies of cancer and she says to Julia "I have their past and you can have their future"

I don't know why but that line makes me cry everytime i see that film.

for me its got to be the closing sequence of greg arakis 'mysterious skin'....its devastating and the acting is so brilliantly understated. and the final speech is just.....beautiful.

also, i know its not a very popular film (god nows why cuz i think its a masterpiece that pisses all over the original) but the last fifteen minutes of 'vanilla sky' is among the most moving, soul stirring, tragic, uplifting and damned ****ing amazing bits of cinema ive ever seen.

ill forgive tom cruise ANyTHING for that. :p

The English Patient.. when he leaves her in the cave to get help... I sobbed and sobbed
Forrest Gump.. was very touching and sweet. Made me cry.
Schindlers List
Magnolia. Gets me in the gut every time I see it.

Cinema Paradisio , not only for it`s final minutes but the whole film.....then it was spoilt by releasing the `long` version.

Napola......
on the frozen lake, one above, one below

Dances with Wolves...when John Dunbar leaves his frienRAB at the end it always gets me.

Barbettes Feast...you really have to see this film if you haven`t

The Pianist.....
when the family is being marched onto a train and Władysław Szpilman (Adrien Brody) is pulled aside and his father signals him to go.That part always gets me

Steel Magnolias - that Sally Field scene makes me bawl.

Also Mr HollanRAB Opus - I find it so poignant

Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

Oh I agree completely. Also Schindlers List, Shawshank, Closer.........and I am sure there will be more I just can't think of them now. Incidently the only movie I have ever cried at is ET and then I was a kid.............actually I tell a lie I cried tears, REAL tears at the end of Titanic. They were tears of gratitude that it was finally over and I was released from what seemed like an endless pergutory. God but that was a BAD movie.

Railway Children

Sound of Music

Ghost

Titanic

I don't watch a lot of films, but have been told that Schindler's List and Watership Down are mega-weepies!

Old Yeller had me absolutely sobbing my eyes out.
The poor dog! Poor kid for having to shoot it! *sob*

As did Steel Magnolias, The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, and probably a bunch of others I can't remember now.

My favourites....

1) Man On Fire.
the reunian with Pita and Creasy. Heartbreaking.
2) ET.
3) Finding Neverland
4) One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
5) My Girl
6) Life Is Beautiful

and for some reason

7) Uptown Girls

My God, I had to wind this ending up because it was so damn BORING.--! Imo, the movie should have ended about 45 minutes before it did.

This might seem an odd choice to some but i rarely get emotional watching movies at all. I did well up a bit watching the end of Lord of the rings: Return of the king. Also, i found Gladiator very sad at the end.

It's got to be Beaches! it broke my heart!
when C.C turns around and smiles at Hill then realises she's dead and just turns to look out at the sea and cries
and The Notebook, i was crying long before the ending though, hehe.

I will never forget the reaction of the audience when I went to see United 93 - the last 15 minutes were incredible, at the end the audience just froze, we were all so shocked....
