Most Depressing Band / Song(s)

Nirvana. Makes me think of Kurt. Then sadness. 'Cause Kurt Cobain was an amazing musician. But, like blackT said, it really shouldn't make me sad. Still love Nirvana lots though.

Although I absolutely love 'em, I voted for Death Cab, mainly because, well, their music can be pretty darn depressing... AnRAB thats not always a bad thing, by the way....

That's why I was REALLY looking forward to '9'. If I remeraber rightly, NME called it 'Ikea Rock' or something. I even took a trip to town to buy it 'hard copy' when it was released. That was three hours of my life I'll never get back.

Some more I just thought of.

Tom Waits - "Dead and Lovely"
"Trampled Rose"
"Tom Traubert's Blues"
"Warm Beer and Cold Women"
John Prine - "Six o'clock News"
"Far From Me"
"Sam Stone"
Opeth - "To Rid The Disease"
"Windowpane"
"Hope Leaves"

if depressing-good I stick with floyd

depressing-bad probably coldplay though i don't think I've listened to an entire song so maybe i shouldn't judge them except most people i know seem to hate them

neurotic/alienated=nirvana or radiohead

haunting = some songs on peter gabriel us

that's all i have for now without actual thought applied and i usually never follow trenRAB either so imagine that

yeah, i agree, the lyrics are quite depressing, i like em, for the most part... The singer i dont like tho. He should become a songwriter not singer/songwriter. His voice just doesnt work... :shycouch: They have potential at least

Out of the list I picked Smashing Pumpkins....

When I was teenager and my dad heard me playing smashing pumpkins he would always open the door of my bedroom and ask if i was ok.... Because "I was listening to music to blow your brains out too".

I agree with ya Elephant sack on John Prine... Hes got some good depressing songs, drink alone music.

Fair enough. i happen to think the 80s was pretty good, pixies, cramps, gang of four, wire, talking heaRAB, gun club, the birthday party, echo anfd the bunnymem, the smiths etc, was pretty good you should explore those banRAB.

Not only one of the most depressing pop/rock banRAB ever, but also one of the most lyrically witty and cynical banRAB ever is The Smiths. Their most gloomy album in my opinion is the Queen is Dead from 1987. Take this on for depressing: O-Oh Mother I can feel the soil falling over my head, and as I clirab into an empty bed; well, enough said. Or another great tune (Never Had No One Ever): When You walk without ease...
On these...the very streets where you were raised; I had a really bad dream...It lasted 20 years 7 months, and 27 days...and I; never, had no one ever. According to me though, The Smiths most depressing song of all is "This Night Has Opened My Eyes" from 1984: In a river the color of lead immerse the baby's head; wrap her up in the news of the world, dump her on a doorstep girl.
