Most Depressing Band / Song(s)

wait...so its OK for you to completely dismiss a whole era of music..yet im "talking shit" for dismissing one crappy band? get some consistency.

The cd The Boatmans Call by Nick Cave and the Bad SeeRAB

Yeah the movies is a real downer if you think Pink Floyd are bit more cheery

because you totally go overboard with the comments about them.....x&y couldn't have possibly been THAT attrocious....perhapse uninteresting or bland ..to you....but....you get my drift....

This poll is totally missing doom metal which probably contains the most depressing music. Cathedral, My Dying Bride, Katatonia, Thergothon... it's all there.

Anyway, from that list I'd definitely take Alice in Chains. Layne's vocals are quite depressing and so perfectly pulled off.

Coldplay are the most depressing band I can think of and in the worst way possible! I can't stand them and I have to leave the room if they are on the radio or I get really down! Some would say a certain band is depressing simply because it's music has a slow pace and honest, realist lyrics that touch on upsetting subjects! I find Coldplay so depressing simply because they sound awful and get too much airplay!!

I saw a hobo with a proper beard when in the car, he was drunk at about 9 in the morning, I thought he was gonna fall over. He was a bit of a hero. But that cover of Creep was a winner. Even though a hobo singing "I wish I was special, you're so fucking special" is a bit... y'know.

Coldplay? There's a difference between depression and boredom. I don't mind them though. They're just a bit dull. I enjoyed one of their albums, though I'll probably never listen to it again.

Damien Rice's first album moved me.. More than depressed me. No idea why, not many albums manage to do that.

I lol'd

Leonard Cohen's not depressing, they're all pretty slow but if you listen to the music and lyrics most of them are pretty upbeat. The Future's a pretty happy album.
