Most Depressing Band / Song(s)

i bet my future mortgage that most of the people that have voted for radiohead on this have heard at the most 5 songs. yes they can be, but so can every band worth their weight. i vote coldplay, just because there new album is so atrocious it makes me want to down a bottle of tranquillizers.

Most depressing band.. and the winner is:

By far the most depressing band I've ever heard, but there's a great solace in their music and a get sense of feeling, and even some hope there. I always listen to Joy Division when I'm down, Ian Curtis really did cut his veins open and bleed for us. The Smiths would be up there, but Marr's guitar playing is so damn catchy and uplifting despite Moz's dark cynical lyrics.

I can understand and repsect those points and even nwo I'm not arguing or anything, but I'm very critical of music in general, no matter what.. SO of ccourse I 'obtained' it first, before buying it and was blown away, usually msot of these older band reunions are schlocky at ebst but this is one that tryuly deserved it, for a change. And this co-wrker that doesnt' even liek metal much in general at all he ended up buying it, too (he normally listens to more classic punk or jazzy type stuff)

Win! And extra kudos to him for his beard. I do like to see a hobo with a proper beard.

It's rare music depresses me. I have enough sh*t going on, music is more of an escape (as horribly cliched as that sounRAB).

So, that said, I'll have to go for Coldplay because I can't stand them and having to listen to them would probably put me in a pretty sh*tty mood.

I agree with Juraby, stuff like Damien Rice, some of Tori Amos's and Regina Spektor's material doesn't depress me at all.

Soundgarden - I find their music dark & depressing, eg Burden in My Hand - Blues lyrics set to the heavy grunge

Classical: Beethoven (Moonlight Sonata)

The Rolling Stones - in the early days they had some sad, melancholy songs (I love the depressing mood of Back Street Girl, I won't listen to Angie - I find it too depressing.)

The Strokes - some of their songs, I don't know what Julian is singing about but it sounRAB kinda depressing.

Their own, each to. But they're so painfully middle of the road and bland it's beyond belief, I think the reason they get so much stick is because they're a big selling artist that are a bit meh. Just like U2, not bad by any stretch of the imagination, but because of how many recorRAB they sell, they get more stick than they'd get say if they sold half the amount of recorRAB.

Coldplay are either depressing or dull, I'm thinking a bit of both.

I dont think Coldplays that depressing. Its melancholic, but otherwise there are some very uplifting songs on their albums.

I voted Other though. Why wasnt Joy Division there? Closer put me in a state of depression for about a week.

^ first time i heard Moonlight Sonata i had tears in my eyes from the first second. but felt like tears of joy i think.

Radiohead

what's so depressing about Coldplay ? :|

none of those banRAB are depressing... i voted Nirvana, because it depresses me on how they did so terrible and they didnt even try... bad band...... when im depressed, i listen to Atreyu. theyre really powerful. i cant help it. it always works. Atreyu owns.

I've got Amnesiac, Ok Computer, Mellon Collie, Dirt and Facelift and I can understand PERHAPS some of the lyrics to Mellon Collie and Dirt are abit depressing but not too much but I dont really think Radiohead are

Hahahahahahaha...yep. :D

Read those lyrics man...Jesus they're depressing.
That last verse...it's actually hopeful.
Not a depressing song at all really.

Great programme by the way. ;)
