Morgan Freeman lays it down on the white man...like a boss

I spent the first half of the thread talking about the complete failure of the CJS to accurately measure/punish crime as a whole.

I then talked about how even though whites commit the vast majority of raw crime, blacks are > 50% of the prison population.

You purported that blacks commit more violent/serious crimes.

Your contradictory evidence to this was to utilize the UCR to show that blacks commit marginally more murders than whites.

Overall, you haven't even come close to contradicting my general point.

They can't afford as good of lawyers, they live in worse areas where the cops are bigger assholes, etc. because of the current socioeconomic situation. I don't think there's any institutionalized racism in the system. The problem is that, on average, blacks are in a worse spot in the first place.

People will always be judged, but at least people are judged far more now on their character/class than their race, because race is not a decision.

I agree, but people are less discriminating than ever before and flat out bigotry is not socially acceptable.

Things always seem to get worse before they get better. We can't expect things to just get better, it's not that easy. It will get better and then have a back draft and then once again get better and continue. It's just the nature of things.

That just describes an area of origin/collection of features.

It still does not justify utilizing that as a determining method of categorizing people.

I'm not saying we can stop from doing it; we can't.

However, we can recognize that it is harmful and has contributed to the institutionalized discrimination we have today.
