He's just making the standard logical arguments, which is what I would expect any intelligent person to do.
It takes a lot of consideration and research to actually look at a giant problem like this one in a different light.

Same exact crimes? Just because someone commits a crime doesn't mean it is one they do a lot of time for. Say you have 5 white people who get arrested for shoplifting and serve a few weeks in jail for them and 3 black people who commit armed robbery and each gets 20 years.

It just happens to affect outward appearance, so we go into insecurity mode as a weak species and try to separate ourselves into groups to feel more comfortable.
It's pretty when you think about it, but throw in media and a culture of inequality and you get the result we're stuck with now.

If blacks as a whole acted better, then the statistics would change. I'm sorry to say but there is a basis of truth in every stereotype. You make valid points and so do I. We're both right and both wrong. At least people are victimized by the statistics of others rather than just their color/race.
