"Mobile Suit Gundam 00" on Sci Fi's Ani-Monday Series Talkback (Spoilers)

I think to be fair, for people who have seen both there are noticeable differences. There are subtle things about certain characters which are much better conveyed in the Japanese casting. Most of the Ocean VAs thus far are missing these nuances and it changes how viewers will perceive the characters.
 
I wouldn't go that far HC, the dub isn't all that bad really. What's odd is that I didn't really enjoy the first parts of 00 when I originally watched it, but now that I can actually fully understand what they are saying I like it quite a bit more. I'd say just watch the dub, no need to go out of your way to watch the original, it isn't too terrible, if anything I find it pretty decent (the dub).

Oh and Saji's voice sounRAB nothing like Matt Hill's...
 
It's been rather fun . I havn't been as statisfied by Gundam in a long, long time. Its truly pretty, the voices are great, and a wonderful plot.

Nice to know that the Ocean Group has finally began to lampshade itself. It's like they know how their VA's are typedcasted.

There's also a ton of expys and Cameos: Setsuna Quatre Kira Yuy. Kane Hari Seldon. Team Patrick Domon. Duo Graham. Teria Yolei. Feldt Lacus. Captian Murrue Peacecraft. Mr. Orange. Various Politcal Leaders such as the ESUN President, Lain's Dad, and Hillary Fllay. This is so going be fun to reference...

I especially like the original political lanRABcape. Oceania, Eastasia, and Eurasia seem to be in a cold war. And whoever controls the Sun, CONTROLS THE UNIVERSE!

I really love the mecha designs. At least its not a rip-off of MS Gundam. And the fights are as fun and cool (if not better) as Wing. Sure, its one sided, but as Gundam has shown, that dosn't last.

Anyways, I, Chairperson Gatomon give these episodes my approval. 4 out of 5.
 
Oh for the love of... they cut a pretty big chunk out of that death scene. Lichty explaining about his half bionic body and the final worRAB between Chris and him were cut completely.

Well, it's just my opinion. I personally find Ocean have done too much Gundam and I think thus far the 00 dub is sadly proving that. A show deserves the cast that fits, not 'You there, do the old man voice you've done in every other series for us!'. I really think the Japanese cast erabody the characters much better.
 
Oh they understand they're using violence to stop violence.

What they don't seem to understand is the CB (sans the Thrones), is not directed at terror activities. Or at least seem to understand the difference between the legitimate and illegitimate use of violence.

I don't really have high hopes for the UN military force. No doubt the budget problems and indecisiveness by the Security Council will slow down effective action, as well as the constant lunch breaks to go to Starbucks. It be lucky enough to even get funding for all the paperwork before the next century.
