"Mobile Suit Gundam 00" on Sci Fi's Ani-Monday Series Talkback (Spoilers)

Another pair of wonderful episodes.
Lockon has a twin! Surprise! And a clan of Haro's too.

I really don't care for Louise's mother. Poor Saji can't even stand up for himself ;_;
Alejandro is a jerk. He can't save anything but his own ass.

Episode 10 is so tense. "Im begging you, go away!!!" Poor Al. Hal is an absolute sadistic creep. All that screaming was pretty crazy. This is where his VA really shines. While I still don't think it's fantastic, the crazy part of him at least comes through enough.

YOU ARE NOT WORTHY. YOU ARE NO WORTHY.
Tieria is a sour puss yet when it comes to Veda he turns into an emotional mess. He's lucky that nobody saw him getting all worked up after the battle.

It's a war story. Lots of people die in wars, not just 'big names'. The way the story was going, it was clear Celestial Being were no longer able to hide behind tech superiority.

President Rodgers seems rather laid back.

Taribia? Were the heck is that?

I have to question the US logic of creating such an strategic asset so close to such an unfrienndly country...

true and i wasn't really that sad when the doctor or kid protecting the brown haired girl died...But having the Girl die too..I think was a bit to much...I can't stand female character deaths...I mean I was mad when Lelouch killed Eupihie in code geass..(even though it was justified considering she wasn;t thinking clearly due to the effects of lelouches geass slip up...) but you get my point...It really gets ya more when a female character dies then when male character dies...of course That may just be me.

Saji*

Oh, okay. That makes complete sense. You admit that you've only seen a few episodes, that it's mostly new to you, yet you're going to judge it. I'll make sure I do that with stuff I watch from now on. Seems like the best way to go about things.

Alright, enough sarcasm. On the note of "girl-hair boy pilots"... do you mean Tieria or something? This is an anime. There aren't a lot of animes with "Regular looking people" if that's what you are looking for. I was thinking you meant the fanservice as far as the large breasts anyway.

Oh well. People will like what they like.

So they cut the ending of Gundam 00 for the 1980's version of Appleseed? Talk about adding salt to the wound. That makes me more upset considering how bad this version is.

I love Soma!

Does anyone think that the UN is totally wasting its time and resources attacking a group that clearly had a different MO from the group that escalated the conflict?! Any intelligence agency could have determined this.

Its like the world nations are wasting its resources and lives of its soldiers.

And why the heck does Darell have a burning hatred for these Gundams? You would think he figure out this isn't the same group. What a fool.

Oh, Darell has a creepy man-crush on Howard. That explains it. He's under the control of some slash writer!

Wow, Ali just said the B-word! You wouldn't have heard that on Toonami!

Hey just as long as it's never...

Setsuna F. Seiei becomes Celestial Being's representative in the brand new Gundam fight. Meanwhile, Master Graham seeks to undo his actions with his Black Flag unit

or something like that, I'll be fine.

EDIT: Wow, we're five episodes away from the end already?

Well, there's no rule saying that they couldn't rerun Gundam 00 *and* Gurren Lagann at the same time, which would be a lot of mecha greatness all at once. That said, there are a lot of premieres that they could do. I know there's been talk of shows like Ergo Proxy and Black Jack in the past.

You know the future is in good hanRAB with these kiRAB

So Soma basically a Coordinator, plus Devil Gundam and the result of China's human right violations? Weird.

And even odd, we actually get hard science!? In Gundam!

Is it just me, or was the waitress sounding like Soma a minute ago?

Louise is a harsh mistress.

I see Soma stole Lunamaria's color scheme...

That's easy to explain.

This batch of Gundam Meisters are not selected for piloting ability. There are far better pilots out there. These pilots were selected because they believe in what they are doing, and continue to do what they needed to do without being told. They will work for free, they will work even if CB was destroyed and they were the last ones alive.

Setsuna is not as experienced as the other three Meisters corabat wise, but no one onboard the ship is as dedicated as Setsuna. The best part? Setsuna is not a follower. He isn't doing this because someone told him to. Setsuna's past made him painfully aware that in the end, he is the only person who can decide what he wants to do.
Setsuna wants to be GUNDAM. As it was spoken, so it shall be.

Wait, they cut it? They cut the quick timeskip prologue that sets up season 2?

...*puts on black space suit, sneaks off to Sci-Fi HQ with a handgun and plastic explosives*

What a strong opening. It's obviously only the first 2 episodes but there are lots of interesting aspects already. The battle in episode 2 especially was nice. The director said they handled it as super vs real and you can really see that in Exia's mobility vs the clunky, tank-like Tierens.

Voice work was pretty strong with only a few complaints. Saji sounded a little off. He seems to be an average teenager, but for some reason there's a little Droopy Dog in there. As for Al...I think I prefer the Japanese voice. It just sounRAB a little more like a sensetive person putting up a strong front, whilst Richard Ian Cox is a bit more assertive.

There were also a few bits of dialogue which sadly seem to repeat past Ocean mistakes. If every military has MS, why did so many characters use the term like it was alien to them? 'Gundam', sure. But general series terminology has never been the Ocean actor's strong point.
I did get a chuckle out of the one AEU official saying 'Mobile Suit Gundam...' as he stared at an image of Exia...guess he had the bad TV Guide too.

Voices I didn't particularly care for:
Graham (What? Crispin Freeman wasn't available? Or did you really think this guy was the best choice)
Sergei, though I think that may improve in time
The cannon fodder. I think those three guys who talked in succession in the orbital elevator sounded exactly the same

Voices I liked:
Pretty much everyone else. Aeolia Schenberg surprised me

Voices I REALLY liked:
Setsuna and Allelujah. I put these two together because I think that they're voices took like 3 or 4 levels in badass just because of the people that they're voiced by. They sound so right for their roles
Lockon. I HEARD IRISH IN HIS VOICE
Wang Liu Mei: Really spectacular performance. A right corabo of sickengly sweet and annoying b**** you just want to get away from but can't because of her sickengly sweet voice. Great choice there.

Overall, I like it a lot more compared to SEED's dub.

EDIT: Darn you Time Paradox HC, I thought I sealed you within the bowels of the flames of Mordor!
