Minority opinions you have about animation

I doubt that's going to happen. And if the writing staff on Family Guy does leave the show, the show would simply end. Keep in mind Seth is also one of the head writers.

Family Guy can still be funny when they try. Simpsons is just horrible now.

But I don't see Seth all too much nowadays do I? Perhaps I'm being too harsh.

MOST of the writing staff for Family Guy should be purged. Especially those who think using Herbert every episode is a good idea.

Okay then, in line with my earlier post. If you like it that much fine, but you need to keep your priorities in order. I'd hate to think that you'd go as far as say taking a hit to someone because they don't like it.

I still say it stems from insecurity. Your opinion isn't heavily shared by others, thus you find the opinion invalid.

Okay, my two cents:

The 'continuing story' that many animes have is vastly overrated. Because those continuing stories eventually have to end, and more often then not, those endings suck. Some of them suck so bad, they make you angry to watched the series in the first place. Like the reason for this little rant, Claymore. Seriously, my time would have been better spent watching Darkwing Duck DVDs...

To me those story arcs eventually get boring because of the mega dose of filler. I basically dropped out of Naruto when that lady became the new Hokage-person.

I don't care how amazing Eureka 7's ending is, if the first 8 or so episodes of a one-season series are dreadfully boring, I don't see the point in continuing watching.

I agree for the most part, at least FG tries to be funny and can produce some dang funny stuff, Simpsons has rarely had me on the floor laughing since season 11 ended, I watch the golden age that is the first 10, as I absolutely love those...

While I haven't seen every episode of B:TAS, I have seen quite a few and, while they vary in quality, most of them seem a little bland. There are only a couple ("Robin's Reckoning" being of them) that I felt were genuinely great. Part of this may have had to do with reading a lot of spoilers before I actually got to see the episodes, but once being spoiled it's not really possible to evaluate a show from a non-spoiled perspective.

The Batman, on the other hand, seems to have a much bigger shift between highs and lows. It has some pretty darn awful episodes to be sure, but when it has a good one going the story and characterization seem on par with anything from B:TAS, but with the added benefit of superior animation (watching B:TAS often feels like the creators had great ideas for how it would look, but didn't yet have the experience or the budget to really pull it off) and a better handle on comedy.

Now, as I admitted, The Batman does have a lot of really bad episodes, but I guess you could say I'm something of an easy going viewer. I don't mind sitting through a string of bad episodes if I know I'm due for a great episode a little later on, so I usually end up judging shows based mostly on their best episodes. That's the same reason I'm able to be a fan of Smallville and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy: about half the episodes each season are pretty mediocre, but, for every two or three clunkers, they come out with a really awesome episode, and that makes it all worthwhile.

I honestly think that Cartoon Network and their programming is terrible and since they are never going to make or show any kind of cartoons I want to see I absolutely have no reason to watch or support the network as a whole. If it went out of business today of tomorrow I wouldn't care same goes for Nickelodeon.

I hate 4 Kids TV as well.

I can accept (I don't like it) the fact that they will never produce or make the kind of cartoons that I grew up on as a kid, but I flat out refuse to believe that a lot of the new cartoons that have come out in the last 10 years or so are better than the stuff I grew up watching.

Also I am sick and tired of all the new cartoons looking the same and having that Cartoon Cartoon style or Anime / Cartoon Cartoon style of animation I don't like it that goes for CGI cartoons as well.

That...neither excuses nor really explains why the series had such a horrible final episode. And a bad series really isn't really a good incentive to read a comic...

This wasn't addressed to me, but I agree with the sentiments expressed, so... Bruce Timm's character designs are also way overrated. They're just so blocklike and similar. I never got into any of the DCAU shows until Justice League came out.... The dark-deco cityscape and backgrounds of the show also seemed somehow out of place. I dunno. The Batman is just easier on the eyes. The characters, the backgrounds, and especially the action sequences.

none of the horrible crap at the end that happened in the anime hapens in the manga (that only happened cause animators are stupid and changed the original plot), plus its the original which mkes it better.

Batman, Naruto and Raven (from Teen Titans): In each case, it's not the characters themselves that annoy me, it's their legions of extra hardcore fans whom I find truly irritating.

And before you get out the tar and feathers, hear me out. I don't have a problem with all fans of said characters. Not at all. It's perfectly fine to me if you have a certain character that you have a fondness for. Nothing wrong with that. It's only that lunatic fringe of hardcore fanatics who are so into their favorite characters that it's sacreligious to say anything bad about them. I find that this is particularly true with the hardcore Raven fans (or "Raven Heads", as I call them). You know the ones. The ones where if you dare to be even slightly critical of Raven or dare to describe the character as being anything less than perfection, you had better start running before you finish saying it. Raven Heads can (and will) talk smack about every other Teen Titan without a moment's hesitation, but will be the 1st to jump down your throat and call you a communist if you dare to say something even remotely critical about their dark princess. They don't tolerate anyone who has even a sightly differing opinion form their own and they are convinced that everyone else on the planet feels the exact same way about Raven that they do. Raven Heads always state their personal opinions as facts and they try to end every conversation with "Raven's the best Titan. Period.". Just because Raven is your favorite character, that doesn't mean that she's flawless or beyond criticism, because no one is, real or drawn. Raven Heads are a bunch of elitist snobs and they get under my skin like a chigger. And the same goes for Bat Heads and Narutards.

To clarify; NOT all Raven fans are Raven Heads, just the extremely hardcore fanatics. Most fans are actually quite reasonable, but with every fanbase you will inevitably get that lunatic splinter group of fanatics who worship their favorite characters like a golden calf and are ready to go 10 rounds with you if you describe "their characters" in less than glowing terms. Those are the ones who annoy me.

-The reason for Static Shock's decline was not the fact that it had an African-American protagonist, nor was it their over-reliance on hip-hop speak and music (although the former is unfortunately the reason that toy manufacturers refused to go near it and the latter certainly didn't help). It was the overabundance of crossovers and celebrity guest stars that ruined SS. They made it look as though the show couldn't stand on its' own merits.

-CGI is not the devil. Yes, it's animation's latest trend and it's kind of being overdone now, but computer graphics aren't the ruination of the cartoon industry. It's just another way of telling a story.

-Something which is getting a bit long in the tooth for me is the trend of characterizing male/female duos (be they parents, siblings, partners, what have you) by making the female half of the duo exceedingly perfect, competent and flawless and never receiving so much as a scratch, and the male half will be portrayed as totally incompetent and buffoonish and will routinely get knocked around all the time. This isn't particularly flattering for either gender: not flattering for the guys to regularly be characterized as bumbling goofballs, and not especially great for the ladies either, since characters who never screw up don't get the laughs and are no fun to write for. Examples are numerous: Cosmo and Wanda from Fairly OddParents, The Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna, Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable, Victor Volt and Anita Knight from The Secret Show. I'd like for once to see a male/female duo who are both equally flawed.

-Cartoon Network's new George of the Jungle revamp isn't a great show, but it does have some potential. The biggest problem I see with it is that there's very little of the spirit of the original Jay Ward series in it; it comes off like a random jungle cartoon with the George of the Jungle label slapped onto it. That, at root, may be the biggest handicap of the show; trying to live up to the original George is no small task. Perhaps CN and Teletoon should've rendered this new series as its' own stand-alone thing and not tried to link it to GotJ at all. As long as CN's GotJ stands under the shadow of the Jay Ward original, it will always be thought of as an also-ran wannabe.

The original is always better? You should watch the original Z-grade Little Shop of Horrors followed by the hit musical version before saying that.

John K deserved what happened to him when he was working at Nick. You don't constantly butt heads with higher-ups and keep them waiting for new product time and again. You just don't.
