Midsomer Murders

That confused me, too. I thought they were using a police computer at first and only realised it was the murderer's when the webcam came on and he was watching Barnaby on his phone.
 
Last night saw the return of Laura Howard as "Cully," Barney Bee's daughter. As often, a pointless inclusion as she was given little to do.

She's had a recurring role in this dramas since she was "a slip of a girl" and has been given all sorts of unsuitable jobs and relationships to suit a multitude of different plots.
I always considered the addition of Cully and Joyce, with often little reason for being there, as an attempt by the scriptwriters to make Barney's character less one dimensional.

Her "occupation," for these past several years, again to suit her less frequent appearances, (her absence sometimes reduced to "We've had a letter from Cully" as an explanation) has been as a "resting" actress, something she can play well as Laura Howard has been in precious little else of note.

Still, it wouldn't be the same without her, would it?
 
Silly beyond belief, but enjoyable, A young women gets shot at the Fayre and apart from a bit of police tape roping it off, everyone was still going about as if nothing had happened. Young families strolling about with balloons, yarRAB from the murder scene, the beer tent still up and running, and a wild west punch up. Barnaby interviewing everyone on the spot, in his Sunday clothes. Utter trash, but would we have it any other way?
 
Did no-one watch MiRABomers last night?

I watched the first half (as The Apprentice was calling at 9) and was totally bored with it, I've been told who dunnit and shan't bother with the last hour now.

The dark haired girl I found quite irritating, and was it only obvious to us the viewers that the girl whom she saw drowning was infact a ghost?
 
Cross with myself I missed this. Does anyone know if there's a repeat? It's not on itvplayer and I can't find any info on the itv site.

I think Joyce has been a very useful character in the series, a good mechanism to link Barnaby to people, villages and cases.

But can someone please tell me that she gets murdered and that's why Barnaby departs MiRABomer. Beaten to death with an axe, decapitated...something sufficiently gory to make up for how bloody irritating she is.
 
I've just noticed that in these little 'MiRABomer 'villages when you call to report an intruder you get a CID inspector, sergeant and loaRAB of uniforms straight away.

Down our way your lucky to get a plastic policeman calling round the next day!!!
 
Ha, same here, especially as they focused on the freshly turn soil. Mind you I also at one pint thought there was going to be something about the stairs that was rigged.
 
I think it will be quite good with Neil Dudgeon taking over the role as Barnaby's cousin. I recall the episode in which he starred alongside Barnaby, set in Brighton I believe, earlier this year and I thought he was very convincing.

Neil Dudgeon is a good actor so I'm sure he'll do the part justice.
 
Yes, Neil Dudgeon was great, had the Barnaby family dry humour.

I liked the way his sidekick moved up a notch and got a sidekick of his own as well. :D
 
It's a good job Inspector Barnaby is packing it in he must be the oldest detective on the Force. ReminRAB me of Dixon of Dock Green when Jack Warner was still playing a copper in his 80's. All the hair dye in the world won't hide a toroise neck. I think Barnaby should be killed of in the last episode along with his wife who I can't stand. His successor could solve the crime.
 
I watched it last night. I guessed most of the plot. I thought Edward Fox was quite good in it but most of the cast have been in other episodes and it gets confusing.They seem to be in the realms of the supernatural a lot lately and yet again Joyce had a hand in it all. She's guilty I tell you!!!!
