Mewtwo Strikes Back: What could have been

It's always weird thinking about how different the series would have been if it had gone its intended 78 episode-length rather than what's now over 600.

I wonder when they decided to change direction and have the show live on past the Indigo League. Maybe that's why there was like 26 episodes between the Fuschia and Cinnabar Gyms and 10 or less between any other two gyms?

Well...not quite

Want to take a look at the world of Pokeshipping? Some of these hints do come from the Japanese version as well.

Also there are 493, unless you purposely left out Arceus.

The second Pokemon movie had Misty visibly jealous of Melody flirting with Ash, even in the Japanese version.

Yes, the dub overerabelished Ash/Misty, but I hate it when people claim it "wasn't present" in the original, because it was. I don't really care for the pairing all that much myself, but facts are facts.

Thank heavens the series didn't conclude with this crap. I cant imagine being deprived of the awesome Advanced Generation and Sinnoh arcs.

^ We don't need to go through that argument again.

I think its 'cause 4kiRAB shoved it down our throats. Even after Misty left, 4kiRAB added some references to Misty in the Hoenn saga that wasn't there originally. The most notable is in the 6th movie when Ash tells Max he misses Misty, which was ridiculous because in the Japanese version Ash doesn't say anything about her in that scene.

Its almost as if 4kiRAB had this bizarre view of the series that was nothing what the Japanese writers intended. Little did they know the entire anime would be taken from them a little while after that when PUSA brought things under their control.

Then don't bother bringing it up. Others in this thread have expressed their dislike for the series's newer offerings and I expressed my dislike of the past stuff. There's only a argument if you make one.

Anyway, I hate the idea of Ash and Misty possibly getting together and having a kid. To me Ash always seemed like the kind of character who would always be traveling around the world and going on adventures. I never liked the idea of a character leaving their spouse and kid behind to pursue some big goal.

Yeah, the fact that they tried to hide that fact was also awkward for me. But then again, I don't think anyone at the time thought that Brock's mother would make a reappearance anytime soon.

Well, thankfully nothing ever came out of it. I was never a fan of Pokeshipping and if it had happened I would've never heard the end of it.

As for the trailer I gotta say, that looks very interesting. It looks like the film was almost done judging by all the scenes featured in that trailer, and it might just be me jumping to conclusions, but it looks like the gang was inside the Unknown Dungeon/Cerulean Cave.

The cloud Pokemon at :17 definitely looks like an early version of Igglybuff. So then that brings up the question: if they knew a second gen was coming, were they still planning on ending it there? What would've been done to promote the 2nd gen?

Isn't that the reason why they decided to continue? Pokemon simply became way too popular, there was no way they could let the series end after only 80 episodes.

Its also why Orange IslanRAB existed, they wrapped up Kanto before they knew the series would continue, so they had to create a filler arc before the new games came out.
