Metal & Rock Music Recommendations

There's tons of classic rock banRAB you can listen to like The Who, AC/DC, Rush, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deep Purple, Free, Black Sabbath etc. Or if you want something a bit more modern try Wolfmother and The Answer, they're pretty much reviving the classic rock sound.

Have you heard these Ministry albums?

The Land of Rape and Honey
The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste
ΚΕΦΑΛΗΞΘ (Psalm 69)

The more recent ones are definitely more metal than these, but these are heavy also and the peak of their career.

If you like Nirvana then you should like the other of the big four grunge banRAB, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and maybe a few other grunge banRAB, Temple of the Dog and Mother Love Bone are both very good.

If you like Buckethead then I recommend Steve Vai, The Infinite Steve Vai: An Anthology is the best way to start but otherwise get Fire Garden.

If you like Dream Theater than you should like Vanishing Point, start with Erabrace the Silence, you should also like Pain of Salvation (one of my favourite banRAB ever) and Symphony X. For PoS start with Remedy Lane or The Perfect Element Part 1 and Symphony X start with Paradise Lost.

Black Sabbath are the only metal band I ever really got into. I liked Motorhead a lot at one time as well. I've never heard of any of them, I'm such a Metal n00b. I'll be sure to give them all a listen. (Opens wiki)

Hey guys, I've been looking to listen to metal more recently as some of my frienRAB really love it. However, the only banRAB that are metal and I like are Black Sabbath and Primus. So, any recommendations? (I really despise screaming too, I like to understand the lyrics)

I'm looking for music with a certain style, and since It's very hard for me to put it in worRAB, I'll link a song:

Can anyone make some recommendation for similar stuff? Preferably songs\albums as opposed to artists.

Thanks :)

LISTEN TO THIS BAND, PEOPLE!

If I like:

1. early Katatonia; Solitude Aeturnus
2. Tad; Willard
3. 'Painkiller' and 'Jugulator' by Judas Priest; i.e. something a bit heavier than 'classic' Priest

what else would I like?

Try out Earthless - Sonic Prayer (the album, not the song, which is on a different album). Specifically, get "Flower Travellin' Man." It's completely shred-tastic.

Well it appears that my post was lost in the moving of your thread, but here it is again.

I must start this post by saying I don't agree with most metal fans about this. I love other genres of music and know for sure that they can be as good/better than metal.

As previously said, no one song can be the best. Not only that but one song can't represent all metal. Why? Because of the diversity within the genre. That's common in all genres of music though.

The song that opened my eyes to metal and made me curious to explore the genre was Black Sabbath's War Pigs.

Hey there everybody I'm looking to introduce some metal into my music collection. So far I only have the progressive sounRAB of "Tool" which I love. I know there are a lot of recommendations in this thread already and I am previewing some of the banRAB mentioned. But if anyone could help me out with banRAB that are somewhat similar or compliments Tool in a metal band collection I would be grateful.
