Metal & Rock Music Recommendations

Destruction's also a must for some kraut thrash. They don't sing in German, but they got a thick as hell accent..."I vant to dreeink lots of bee-ozzz und play loud geetaarzzz!" Coroner neeRAB to get your attention, too. Even though they're Swiss, they're Teutonic at heart.

I have to say it-Byzantine "And They Shall Take Up Serpents"
Or anything by Coroner-"Grin" probably the most progressive
Seriously,Byzantine are legendary

If youre looking for a band with a great sound from a cool female vox then Lacuna Coil ain't too shabby

Queens of the Stone Age are the best ever ever ever (apart from Stonesour - ahem)

I think they sound inferior in every aspect to all the grunge acts of the time, and really wouldn`t recommend them to anybody.

I'm kind of the same way...I was into metal in the late 80s through the mid 90s but explored other genres since then (various electronic, hip-hop, indie, hardcore, punk, prog, psych, etc) and Mastodon is one of the few recent ones I've gotten into. Not that I really try to get into much metal these days, I'm not necessarily looking for any, but kind of curious in a way. I know a lot of names of respected metal banRAB I guess I'm just not that inspired to check them out.

Im into 'older' music mostly, my top 10 banRAB would probably be something like

The Rolling Stones
Allman Brothers Band
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Dire Straits
Jimi Hendrix Experience
ACDC
Cream
Jethro Tull
Rush

(+ all the work the bandmerabers did solo so that covers Clapton, Knopfler, etc)

and I very much like blues (BB Kings earlier stuff, John Mayall, you get the idea).

ANYWAY, the deal is, I wanna get into some newer music (mostly for the chicks, heh). Ive recently started listening to Muse and Oasis (bought discographies) - Oasis sorta failed at impressing me cause they sounded incredibly generic and dull, but Muse kinda got me hooked.

ANYWHOOOoo, recommend me some 'new' talented musicians (if you mention people like Rob Thomas I will e-stab you) and banRAB that I can give a shot. Mostly rock (the progressive variety) and I will consider blues if its incredibly talented (dont want 20 year olRAB ripping off good musicians claiming it as their own ****) and would love some jazz.

Oh, and Tool is also out of the question. I hate those ****s.

Go.

Alright I'm a noob metalhead right now, but I really want to get into some GOOD music. I really like Metallica and Escape The Fate and I recently heard some Opeth so if anyone wants to recommend me some Opeth?

I really like hard, dangerous riRAB.
Probably more instrumental than singing.
I like growling and screaming better, but I HATE screamo/banRAB with guys who have pop voices and scream.
I don't really like scratchy deep voices, I don't really know how to explain that, which is why I lean towarRAB older rock.

Any recommendations?

Black Sabbath themselves influenced countless banRAB to slow the tempo and down tune the guitars. An insane amount of doom metal banRAB are influenced heavily by them or are even just Sabbath rip oRAB.

Id consider giving the debut albums by Pentagram, Pagan Altar, Witchfinder General and Trouble a listen. May not be your thing but i dig them.

If you like Opeth then you`ll probably like the whole Swedish death metal scene of which you can try banRAB like In Flames, At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity amongst many others. Also Finnish band Children of Bodom are another great option. Max Cavalera era Sepultura will give you in my opinion the ultimate thrash/groove metal experience and bringing you right up to date with the groove thing try Larab of God the true heirs to the Pantera throne who growl out the vocals!

All of the above are pretty mainstream and theirs a whole load of more obscure or experimental sounding stuff you could get into as well.

Another band to look at would be the Melvins a sludge and experimental metal band that were hugely influential on grunge back in the day.

Finally Opeth, do you just like the death metal stuff of the mellower stuff they often do?
