I'm actually really familiar with the album, and yeah it is great, but I'd kinda' forgot about it, because I lost it in a hard drive crash a few months ago. I'll definitely check out Baroness
I am a huge fan of Strapping Young Lad primarily The New Black. It is a lot heavier than anything off of Addicted though. You should give it a try anyways.
Ive mentioned this song before..and I like it so well I just have to post the link, I do know that it was on a soundtrack off one of the movie sequels 'The Crow'. YouTube - Hurt - Rapture
Hammock`s advice is pretty good but my favourite two by them are "Twilight in Olympus" and "V:The New Mythology Suite" A couple of great albums and well recommended. Remeraber, Symphony X are heavily symphonically influenced, so if you don`t like Symphonic metal you may not like them.
Since you’re a Maiden fan you might like some older stuff such as Fates Warning’s “Awaken the Guardian” and “The Spectre Within”, Satan’s “Court In the Act”, Helloween’s “Keeper Of the Seven Keys” albums and Queensryche’s earlier material.
Mercyful Fate and King Diamond’s “solo” work as well though the high pitched falsetto vocals are a hit or miss for most people. I think he’s one of the all time best.
For newer stuff maybe Iced Earth, they have an awful lot of Maiden influence.
And for something totally random try checking out Viking metal-era Bathory albums, “Hammerheart”, “Twilight of the GoRAB”, “Blood On Ice” and Nordland 1 and 2.
Look up epic in the dictionary and you should see Quorthon’s name.
I have a few requests, so if you can help on any of these, please do!
