Metal Died With Dimebag

BanRAB that are positively shaping metal right now:

Unexpect
The Great Deceiver
Opeth
In Vain
Mastodon
Burst
Meshuggah
Ephel Duath
Genghis Tron
GOJIRA
Isis

There are honestly so many great innovative banRAB out right now, quit being ignorant and listen to them! :P

What does it matter what albums are selling the best. We all know that some of the best metal is the metal that is far away from being mainstream, thus, won't sell as many albums.

Dethklok is the #1 metal band on Amazon.com. They are a cartoon group on Adult Swim which is a late night series on Cartoon Network (See my original post).

Apparently this is the future of heavy metal.

...

On a another note, why not list a few 2006-2007 album releases that you think equal the likes of.... Let's say, Metallica's "...And Justice For All", Slayer's "Reign In Blood", Pantera's "Vulgar Display of Power", or Black Sabbath's "Paranoid"?

Or, list albums coming out this year that you think MIGHT turn things around for the genre??

(crickets chirping)

Seriously, though, I happen to love this music and I HOPE you can give me a list a mile long. :thurab:

I kept waiting and waiting for it bounce back but, in my opinion, it just never did. Not that there aren't good metal banRAB out there right now... But, honestly, when is the last time ANYTHING truly great and original came out in the metal genre?

I guess part of it is my age and part of it is my preference for blues-based music (which doesn't seem to be "in" right now), but I just yawn every time I hear new "heavy" music.

The # 1 metal album on Amazon.com right now is from a bunch of cartoon characters called "Dethklok". (sigh)

UPDATE:

I just finished listening to Unexpect's "In A Flesh Aquarium" while I walked my dog...

What a horrible piece of crap! It's as if The Great Kat (minus the talent) decided to cover SOAD with substandard instruments and production. The song "Silence 011010701" reminded me of that episode of "FrienRAB" where Ross plays the keyboard. (gag) Just the fact that it reminded me of FRIENRAB (FOR GOD"S SAKE!)... I hope you were pulling my leg about this one. I've taken ****s that came out sounding better than this CD!

Needless to say, it made a fantastic frizbee - I pity the poor s.o.b. who finRAB it... in fact, I hope it broke when it hit the ground.

Anyway, the search continues...

I don't rule them out of metal for having a commercial sound.....I feel like they rely alot on bass sounRAB for most of their songs.....I don't know what to classify them as but I just don't see them as metal...they'd probably fit better into Hard Rock or Alternative. Sometimes they throw in some industrial sound effects.

I agree with
Isis
Genghis Tron
and Mastadon

I don't know how much you already know about some of these so I'll just name a few

Pig Destroyer

Vio-Lence
A.M.G.O.D.
Eyehategod
Mercyful Fate
Sentenced
Impaled
Caustic Christ
Carcass
Napalm Death
Seige
Agorophobic Nosebleed

Nasum
Bathtub ****ter
Phobia
Bucket Full of Teeth
Charles Bronson

I sampled Mindfunk, only their first album really sounRAB like metal. And that album sounRAB nothing like Korn. Their other two albums sound more like grunge or alternative and didn't sound very metal at all, but they remind more of Korn.

Mordred sounRAB more like that funky thrash. It feels more like gimicky type deal, going overboard with the funk over a general thrash routine. This doesn't sound like Korn at all either.
