Memories of YuYu Hakusho

I agree with this 100% as I felt the Demon World arc was lacking in something for it to be the finale. Anyway I love Yu Yu Hakusho ever since I first saw it in 2002 and it's in my top ten favorite anime series list.

Aye, everytime I watch Yu Yu Hakusho or Rurouni Kenshin I tend to switch up on which one I think is the best. (I haven't seen any episodes after the Shishio arc, so as far as I'm concerned that's where RK ended)

I enjoyed the character interactions although I'm not a fan of Kuwabara. The guy is definately funny ("How can you keep on hitting a girl like that Urameshi? I mean you even hit her on the ta-ta's") but I find him to be on the annoying side. (Not nearly as annoying as other characters in shonen) To keep it simple, I'm not a fan of goofy underdogs.

I've yet to see the sub and I don't really into on doing so. Seriously, who neeRAB it when the dub sounRAB so good, but then again that's personal opinion.

As far as music goes, there were a few that I liked (Struggle of Sadness being my favorite), but can't say I was a fan of most it. Not saying that I hated the rest of the music, but none of them were really all that memorable to me.

Favorite character(s) are the top 3.. Hiei, Kurama and Yusuke. Don't really hate anyone in the series outside of probably Keiko and the boy with the yo-yo's... What?

I'll get back to you on a favorite saga once I get the chance to see the Dark Tournament. Should be arriving in the mail soon.

I realize I'm spinning this a different way than you, but how could I forget to mention the background music of the series? IMO YYH had a really good backing soundtrack that really fit the mood of the show in addition to the opening and ending themes. One of my favorites was definitely "Time Limit". http://tiny.cc/0HNDA tho Struggle of Sadness was great too.

I don't see the big deal if I don't want to watch the Japanese version.
Is it a big deal? I don't think so.

I only like to watch a few shows more than once. Yu Yu Hakusho is not one of those shows. I like re-watching a fight once in a while though.

For what it's worth I've seen like a few minutes of one of the movies in Japanese. I'd rather watch it in FUNi English.

Thanks but no thanks. While I'm not as impartial to watching subs as I used to be, I still prefer all my anime to be dubbed. (One Piece being the only exception because I'm not really feeling FUNi's work on it. SounRAB a bit dull and forced, that is from what I've heard of it so far)

Another piece of background music I liked was Yusuke's Powerup (I think that's what it's called). I'm pretty certain I heard it when Yusuke was fighting Yomi. Don't recall if I heard it during the fight between Yusuke and Sensui though. There was another song, but I don't remeraber the name at all. I know I heard it while Kuwabara was thinking about the past... (Also Yusuke's fight against Sensui)

Wow I used to love this show. My favorite saga had to be the Dark Tournament saga, to me it was the darkest of the sagas and it had some awesome battles
I need to find it and buy the DVD's.

Then you can't exclaim that one's better if you've never watched it. You have little to compare it to.

Justin Cook's performance is overrated. He's good, but not great. The japanese actor can really act.

There's always going to be fans of stuff in spite of it's quality. there are some people that prefer the Adam West Batman to other incarnations. I for one would prefer if it had never existed. It's so terrible. Shark Repelant Bat Spray? A sparrow with a machine gun? ugh!

Here's the thing that annoys me about the dub, they inserted stuff like when Yusuke told Toguro before their fight that he and Keiko were going to grow old together or something to that effect. That's out of character for him at that point. I enjoy the dub, but the added cussing was juvenille.

So what if no one wants to watch the Japanese version?
Cut it out already. It's not a big deal.

Stop saying the sub is much better. People like what they like. Drop it.
I'm not going to re-watch a show just for the sake of watching it in Japanese.

I can't tell which is better, but I like shows I understand; I dislike reading subtitles. If I liked the dub, then I want to only pay attention to the dub. (Unless it's like One Piece, where the show is so far behind I have to pay attention to both.)
I don't care if I'm missing out, because it's the same thing for me, only in another language. It may be a whole new experience for certain people, but not me.

it's not a big deal but i just think it's interesting that people would cite THAT reason. I often wonder if they even enjoy reading in and of itself.

I agree with Gorbash's post.

Hobbes it isn't anything to make a big deal about.

Let's not make this a dub vs. sub. It's making the thread suck.
========
One of my favorite moments was toward the end of the Dark Tournament saga.
Tugoro stabbed Kuwabara with his fingers and it look like he died. Then after the fight it turned out he was alive after all! That was a funny moment.

And you don't think people just want to listen and watch something in their own language?

Just because someone doesn't want to watch something in Japanese so they have to resort to subtitles doesn't mean that, that person doesn't like to read.

Most of your posts in this thread have been attempts to get people to watch the Japanese version.

Just drop it.
