Expensive, ineffecient, unreliable, low yield, and, when it's espoused by politicians, it makes morons think it's a viable alternative to coal and, in the future, nuclear energy.
Going to 100% of any one power source would be utterly retarded anyway. U.S. power should come from a mix of nuclear, clean coal, solar, wind, hydro, NG, and geotherm with varied levels of centralized and distributed generation depending on the geographical location and population demands for power.
Not familiar with that specific term. Are you talking about the idea of homeowners paying for solar cells out of their own pockets and getting paid for the surpluses?
