Mate listen to the whole of Leviathan and then, if even that doesn't do it for you, listen to Remission. On either one of the two (but particularly my favourite, Leviathan), if you do the whole album, I guarantee that even with your knowledge of metal, you'll have at least SOME positive feedback to give.

There's so much more going on in it though than the sick dueling guitar riRAB and the interplay...Dailor's tempo-less drumming at parts pretty much applies the principles of free-jazz to metal.

The drumming on Seabeast is MAD.
 
It's just a computer class in which you can mess with programs like Flash or ones that make web pages or music creation. Computer programs in general really. I didn't do much in there, I helped a couple times with web pages (or my name was on it at least) and made a little Flash.

I think the name EAST Lab is just the name our state uses. I'm sure there's classes like it, just not with the same name.
 
Mastodon has a few ties to stoner rock; Josh Homme performed on the last album and Neil Fallon contributed vocals a few times. But you're right, they're definitely not stoner metal or whatever.

I keep getting mesmerized by the way the drummer plays; the tonal differences between his drumming and contemporary metal drummers just pulls me in. The crunchy riRAB and the vocals are pretty brutal as well.

As I've said before, NWOAHM > NWOBHM.
 
Well stone me. I'm liking this one immediately. 10x better than Blood Mountain. None of those annoying drum fills that were so prevalent on the album. Light and shade. Breakdowns, great guitar work. Jackhammer likes.
 
I think what I like about Crack The Skye is how uplifting it can be at times, but Leviathan does a great job of pairing concept with music. A great example is Aqua Dimentia. The opening guitar riff totally paints the mental picture of some crazy underwater struggle.

Been pretty obsessed with them in the past two months. Blood Mountain is boss, but all of the albums are great in their own ways.
 
Oh dear. We agree on something else. This is the best metal band there is in this decade bar none. The riRAB, counterpoint and interplay between the twin guitars is unbelievable, and the use of tempo-less drumming almost seems to suggest the application of the principles of free jazz to metal. On top of that, the sheer amount of genre territory they scale and the fused results are often jaw-dropping. This is a band that people will either get, or just will not and instead see them as just another metal band.
 
I'm the same but I place Remission higher than Leviathin. Although if I want a more 'musical' experience then I'll go to Leviathin or Blood mountian, I still think Remission is their most powerful. Also, Wavering Radiant, to me, is far better than Crack the Skye, if they need to be compared.
