Masterchef Australia the new one starts today

General election night over here, so I just got around to seeing ep 45 this morning. In the election and ep 45 I was rooting for the same colour team.

Yes, it almost comical, the way the kiRAB believe that they've delivered stellar quality food, while in reality it's a dog's dinner at best.

The problem IMHO lies in the fact that they are all constantly so bigged up by the judges, they actually start to believe it. The sad truth is of course that with one or two exceptions they're all just mediocre cooks. And not on the near Michelin Star/Chef's Hat level we are led to believe.

BTW the show seems to be a real goldmine for Network 10. $AUS 100 MIO in advertisements and product placements. No wonder the setup is so lavish compared to the UK version. Makes the $100k price for the winner look like pittance.

Just found out Joanne (Jo-Blow of Blow-Anne as they call her down under) has a Dutch surname: Zalm. Which is Dutch for salmon. Speaking of irony... :D

fonzerelli beat me to it but yes, series 2 of Masterchef Australia arrives on Watch from this coming Monday 6th September. You can see brand new episodes every weeknight at 7pm with a repeat showing weekdays at 1pm.

Watch is on Sky 109 and Virgin Media 124.

of course there is only one bloke we want to go out........ and whats with all the ill fall on me own sword rubbish......of course he is going to use his get out of jail card.

Really enjoying this, think some of the production is syrupy sweet and never imagined seeing so many butch australian mem blubbing!! It is a good show though. Record on sky so I can whiz through all the add breaks.

no.79..... well even a full time chef would struggle with this one....please remind the produces that this is finals week and i feel as though the show peaked early.......

I'm back!

Back up to date after a bit of a backlog with Masterchef.

When will the robbed contestant be back in competition? What happened last year? I was shocked that "Granny" got eliminated but sorta relieved! I am delighted that he is though because the tears was god damn annoying.

Can't believe Carrie is still there though! She's my fave and she's quite rubbish! That'd be me in the comp!

Not a Jonathan fan either.....has serial killer eyes!

The New Zealand version started with less contestants.
Out of over a thousand hopefuls they selected just 12 for the competition. Therefore no extra elemination rounRAB etc. to get to the final group. They went straight in. Also there were no Masterclasses.

Get your hanRAB on it, it's great fun. I actually preferred it to the Oz version. Mainly because it was more concise. And far less weepy.

just watched number one......dont panic im not going to spoil anything.........lets just call episode 1 emotional.....50 down to 45.......and just what the uk version neeRAB.....something new in the first rounRAB.......andmattprestondoesstilllooklikeadick.

Strange mr Roux came up with it, considering the brief.
You can't blame them for not contesting it. After all who dares to contradict the master?
Again it was a great episode, but I was a litte surpised about the result. One team had minor niggles, whereas the other team completely ballsed up two dishes. The other two must have been stellar.

I couldn't agree more pink.It is very disappointing as the best chefs have clearly already left the competition we have 2 still in who were already booted out and a young man who nice as he is has been out of his depth since the early rounRAB.
I actually couldn't care less who wins now and the best celebrity chefs have already been on so what can they come up with.

no.30.....what a good show....i want a wood burning oven....im sure pizza with a sourdough base 3 or 4 days a week and fresh flat bread like i got from a turkish bakers today would do little to help my waistline.....and i have a thing for rice pudding now.......wonder if he will make it friday ?
