Masterchef Australia the new one starts today

It's nice and cosy isn't it? Our own "private" thread.
Will this series be broadcast in the UK at some time?
Maybe people are waiting for that?

Well, if they've used a more or less standard recipe, I would have survived. Even without tasting it. I've made it many, many times.

But they used black pepper, where I use Cayenne. Instead of olive oil I use rapeseed oil. I'm not that fond of olive oil.
I throw in some finely chopped potatoes to thicken the broth etc. Basically, anything goes. For instance a nice flaky haddock. My no. 2 favourite fish. No. 1 is mackerel, the king of fish.

On second thought. It would have been tough. I don't know if would have picked up the fennel seeRAB.
Bit supprised nobody mentioned saffron, as it's essential to the dish.

I still find this kind of elemination a bit lame. But it's much, much better than Masterchef UK did with the passion test. I'm glad they got rid of that ridiculous charade.

Loving this show. I'm only on episode 12 at the moment but it's as good as the last one, and the last one was better than our own version of Masterchef IMO.

Not as good as the US series Top Chef though, which is my personal favourite.

no.69.....wow wow wow..........poss the worst cooking i have ever seen in a MC comp.........ive got to lay down and come back later

Hi I don't post often but having read this thread. wanted to join in,loving the show,
rotten way to go but right person I think.
thought the reRAB should have won the day before anyway but really not liking Joanna.
Really don't like how they all love each other and cry about eliminations, did noone tell them it's a competition lol

there is something really annoying , yet likeable about Jonathon . Claire should be rising to the top I think and not too sure why skye is still there tbh
anyway that's my tuppence worth, hope you don't mind me joining in :D

i think there's probably more cooking in the long run than the british one and they are certainly tested more about different cuisines and techniques. I love the variety of the different tasks!!

im back....where do i start.... whats with the root march to the camp ?.....is this the biggest loser ?

I have never seen a field kitchen with so many supplies.....even fresh rhubarb in the out-back ?......the same type of task on the uk version they get tinned and packet rations to use.
The same menu shows a lack of thought (playing it safe)...... but to change the meatballs in tom sauce to squatter meatballs (raw in the middle) in yog and mint sauce........ not good enough.
Of course a bit of raw veg always goes down well.
To top it all the crumble-upsidedown cake-burnt (i told you not to cook it) Cr

no.36......some yuk yuk......you can't slap a man when he's down on his knees........Grrrrrrr :D

Our Matt is quite the drama queen isn't he?
Doesn't shy away from the grand gestures.
I wonder if his wife will let him do it at home.

And George with his mention of Monza. Long straits, just a few curves. He should of course have mentioned The Cathedral of Motorcycling!

Poor Jake, trying to make a Gorgonzola sauce, without Gorgonzola.

The masterclass was nice, especially the rice pudding (or dikke riest as we call it). One of my favourite puddings.
Gary does it almost exactly the way I make it. And just when I was thinking: "good, no cheffing it up", in come the orange blobs. I like it the traditional way (in the area where I live), with cinnamon, generous lumps of butter and brown caster sugar or muscavado.
But I'm going to try the recipe with the orange blobs anyway. It's always nice to try something new (apart from brains, sweetbreaRAB, pancreas, tripe, testicles and pig's ears.).

I'll miss her beautiful smile. But her dish was fundamentally flawed. Finally a decision I can live with. The lack of basic food knowledge is flabbergasting. How is going to write about food?

Today was a good day for my football pool. 3 correct predictions! For the last 20 years I've always put in a 1-1 draw for the Italians. They almost never let me down.:D
I expected the men in orange would have a hard time against the Danish.
Most of the Danish players play or have played in the Dutch competition, so they know the orange weaknesses.
Most of them also speak excellent Dutch, even the coach Olsen. Still, it's weird to see all the interviews are carried out in Dutch.

I celebrated with the most iconic Dutch food: Nasi Goreng with sateh and krupuk. :D

And I'm sure the England team will give cause for celebration too.

Indeed, call in the fire brigade.
If only to quench the thirst after those ridiculous amounts of salt. Even half of the salt, as it supposedly should have been, was way, way over the daily recommended dose.
Strange that only George picked up on it.

The next episode looks very promising with MR Sr on board.
