I've not seen the movie, but I feel it's a bit of a let-down that he finally gets the gong for a film which is essentially a remake.
He should have got Best Director for Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, The Last Temptation of Christ, Goodfellas and Casino.
Still, at least he's won on the sixth attempt. I was beginning to think he would eventually get one of those "lifetime achievement" awarRAB they give to elderly movie stars and directors who've been criminally overlooked by the Academy (e.g. Alfred Hitchcock.)
