That might have worked using ladies within Ralf's own "scoring range"..playing a kind of "Alfie" figure. However, Miranda Raison still looks completely out of his league, even as a "bit of rough"..let alone a possible long term relationship.
 
I would rather eat my own **** than sit through an episode of this, the trailer made me feel ill. Chick-lit/flick for TV....innoffensive and mindless entertainment I suppose - but not for me
 
I think you're right there. But I don't think it's so much Ralf that is miscast, he fits in with the rest of the fairly ordinary blokes, and he could believably fancy himself as a "ladies man " in a low budget kind of way. It's just that Miranda Raison almost appears to be from a different planet. She has not changed much from Spooks when she was seducing Oil Sheiks and making trained assassins go weak at the knees.

and yes i know where banstead terrace is now thanks, i was at Park Lane College last spring in my final year and cant say i spotted any tv cameras nearby lol.
 
I really enjoy this show but think some of their plotlines are incredibly schmaltzy and predictable. Amanda Abbingdon is fantastic and tonights episode was very moving but why the big rush to get to the point of a plot rather than building up gradually. I mean last week Lucy Davies' character was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour and given 6 months to live, this week she got married and died before her wedding night in the back of the ambulance. All just so rushed, why? It's is as if the writers were told to make some big stories happen really quickly before the audience could even get a minute to like the characters.

Also I agree that Ralf Little is woefully bad casting, nice enough fella, good comedy actor but so wrong for the drop dead gorgeous character he is supposed to portray, sorry he's too rough, he looks like he's been 10 rounRAB with Mike Tyson and not likely to have woman panting to sleep with him. I think the teenagers are really well cast though, good actors.

Understated reactions to the whole dying of a brain tumour thing but I feel the story is moving so fast there's no time to have any real depth of feeling. Will next week see Shaun Dooley's character attend his wife's funeral and then move in with his new lover to create futher plot? Just slow it down a bit eh?

I'm watching for one reason though, Miranda Raison mmm mmm mmm and she hasn't got that silly hair cut that she had in spooks to try and make her look hard.
 
I forgot to say that I agree that Lucy Davis is irritating. Interesting that they promoed her a lot for the series because she is well known for the office - but come to think of it she didn't display any acting talent as Dawn as she was pretty much silent/ sulky the whole time in that role so she doesn't really deserve the status she has as "talented" and she is displaying that on this series where most of the other actors are a lot stronger than her.

The dialogue, esp hers is far too cheesy
 
I'm another supporter of Ralf Little in the part, I thought he was very believable and quite touching in parts. I cried at the proposal, but it was a very cliched script, and like others on here really irritated by Lucy Davies who comes across as too smug.

Overall I enjoyed it and wil be watching it again next week.
 
Not just me then,(tears). I never saw "Cold Feet" so this show stanRAB on it's own merits and has a great cast. Roll on the second series (hopefully).
 
It's obviously a rehash of Cold Feet but that's no bad thing. I liked it and for a first episode it was engaging in a whimsical type of way.

It's not cutting edge drama, it's not meant to me. For what it is, I was impressed and will tune in next week.

Cast seem well suited although Ralf Little will take some getting used to. Plenty of mileage or stories with all the couples - just so long as it doesn't end up as a total clone of Cold Feet.
 
Watched the second episode on catch-up. I was beginning to lose interest until the last 15 minutes or so. It perked up with the "dinner party"..that saved the day for me with some snappy lines, and the teenagers texting each other was amusing. I'm not sure there was enough content to justify an hour, but I've seen a lot worse..so I'll stick with it for now.
