do you have any idea how retired military pay works? if he's getting retired MILITARY BENEFITS, then he is receiving retired MILITARY PAY. which is roughly equivalent to 50% of his pay before he retired.

you have no fucking idea what you are talking about, and are just talking out of your ass.

In recent history, in the private sector, unions have been generally contracting. In the public/government sector, they are growing. Which I find fascinating, because the union's original purpose was to protect the employee from employer abuse. The government makes and enforces labor laws...

Except an O5 with 20 years will make about 30k/yr in retirement. Your flight pay and all that doesn't get considered for retirement, just base pay.

like most things unions have good and bad parts to them

i find it hypocritical that people that people think that people should not be able to collect their power in the free market. or that people think that unions should have no rights, since businesses certainly have their share of protections.

we should be thinking of ways to shape those protections so that the bad parts become uncompetitive and the good parts become competitive. it's stupid to say that, oh unions should just go away or oh companies are evil

Unforunately, you're right. I mean, I absolutely HATE unions. But you're right.

The bottom line is this:

(according to the article)

There you go. Pay the $500 or lose your job. It's that simple. If he didn't want to deal with union bullshit, he shouldn't have taken a job that required him to join a union.

he doesnt give a fuck, he has his military retirement pay, whatever he makes from teaching is fucking hookers & blow money.

I love the show, "Stossel". It's great. He did an hour long episode on Charter Schools which was .

I think govt oversight, laws, and enforcement have taken a SPECTACULAR beating the last 10 years, private and public. I'm not sure they could have failed harder with a dedicated fail-plan

Our tax dollars deserve better

The union is doing nothing wrong, lawfully. By law he has to make a choice. Keep the job by paying the union dues. Or move on to another job where a union is not involved. The choice is his. Hope he does whatever makes him happy
