the little girl was SO adorable.

Kirsten said on Ellen that some of the kids were French and she had a difficult time communicating with them

Well, I just watched this. First I must say that Sofia Coppola is a wonderful filmmaker. She has a magic touch.

However, I was pretty confused with this movie, well, with Marie Antoinette herself. I don't know if the movie wanted her to be misunderstood, naive, selfish, or what.

If I don't take into consideration the little I know of Marie Antoinette and French history, I could like the movie right until the end when darkness and pain take over. It was too quick, too "oh and by the way, there was this thing called The French Revolution and it was pretty bad." Hehe.

But yes, the film looks outstanding. I didn't mind and quite loved at times Kirsten Dunst's portrayal, though I would have been interested in watching another actress take on the role. Someone like Frances O'Connor or Rose Byrne who was in the film.

Overall, the first half of the movie is pretty incredible, the second half is not as solid but doesn't exactly "ruin" what came before.

interesting choice for HBO. too bad MA didn't get the attention that Lost in Translation did. I think MA is better

I didn't like the film. I thought it was trivail and frivolous. The colors were amazing though and Kristen was the perfect person to play Marie-Antoinette though.

They dragged out Louis's sex problem for way too long and then they abruptly solved it.

I saw this movie on Friday and thought it was really entertaining.

Those kids were so cute especially the little girl! :)

In the past few years, HBO has been showing and repeating the movies that did bad at the box office.

I saw the film yesterday night and did enjoy it. If you know about the time period then you have to disregard that to be able to not argue with the false facts the movie tried to portray. The costumes were not at all what was worn in that time. They didnt wear bright vibrant pastel colored dresses like the ones in the film. Also a lot of the French's reactions werent exact, but overall I did think the movie was good. Along with a lot of people in here I didnt think Kirsten would pull it off, but I thought she did quite well.

I for one am more disappointed and mad about how they are perceiving Marie Antoinette in the media as a fashion icon and it girl. The French people hated her, or atleast the poor did which were the majority of the French population. Im sure when they were starving and begging for bread they werent thinking about what the newest trends were. There's press coverage and false claims for you though.

maybe people have seen it but they choose not to post? sometimes I don't post in a thread even if I did see and liked a movie

got to remember to check it out.

I know. it was a good movie.
where is everyone?
does it still have to open in more theaters?

Jenn, have you seen the new trailer for Hayden's movie Virgin Territory now called Chasing Temptaion?
go to the Hayden board ;)

We've got to keep this thread alive. I can't believe no one else has seen this movie

 yea
wigs are such a fun artisic medium.
I scan a cartoon of MA's & her wig i have from Vogue.

They were alright as a couple. It was more of their chemistry than their looks that made me like seeing them.

I liked her wigs.
