Does anyone else remember this particular episode from Super Mario World? It was more or less the 'series finale' of the show as well as the end of The Mario Bros. run in cartoons (for now?). I saw it last night and although it contradicts the beginning of the actual game, it pretty much follows the same storyline of SMW with Luigi getting his chance to shine. I think what's pretty amazing is how popular this particular episode has become 16 years after it originally broadcasted.
 
I consider this episode as Luigi's finest hour.

Mario: You didn't tell me you were bringing a secret weapon, Luigi.
Luigi: That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!
 
Maybe because I'm a total Luigi fan, but I've always declared this my favorite epsiode above all the Mario series if not because for a short fifteen minute cartoon, it's rather sweet in it's own way and in some weird way, the telling of an origin somehow really worked as a "series finale" for the Mario cartoons.

This episode is a classic. If you ask me SMW was the most enjoyable of the Mario DiC series.
 
Both him and Sasha Mitchell? Wow! It's hard to believe these people aren't as rightous and moral as the characters they play.

Anyway, I have to agree with Don, I think Luigi's finest moment was in 'Life's Ruff' from 'The Super Mario Bros. 3' series. Since he got that cartoon all to himself, it really showed how he can be a hero even without Mario around to support him.
 
Sorry. But Danny Wells and Lou Albano were the best Mario and Luigi IMO. I really didn't like how whiney Luigi became in SMB3 and SMW.
 
Well, SMW seems to be the least favorite among fans, and a lot of it was quite a deal more rediculous than SMBSS and SMB3. Plus, these are clearly the type of people that redub stuff they used to like, only with a lot of rediculous swears and fart jokes.
 
I don't know, I always thought SMW was pretty decent for what it was though I couldn't stand Oogtar. Though it's interesting that it had more social commentary in it than the other two Mario series.
 
I think as far as Nintendo shows go in which current technology is introduced, and making a social commentary on what it can do is better handled in Hoshi no Kirby.

Oogtar was a terrible character, I agree. I know they had to have cavemen, but having them as real people and not mushrooms seemed off. plus, I really wish Toad was in that series. Toad was a much better character anway, and one of my favorite voices by John Stocker.
 
Yeah I missed Toad too. The interaction between him and Yoshi would've been interesting plus The Koopalings could've had more screen time than they were given in SMW.

Shame the show only got 13 episodes.
