can he stop making films please:mad::mad::mad: gave him one last go for the happening and no more. he went all crazy after six sense anyone agree or disagree?

Enjoyed Sixth Sense, and Unbreakable. Signs was great until the "surprise" twist. I guessed the entire plot of The Village withing 10 minutes, and after reading the reviews of Lady In The Water, and The Happening I'm not glad I avoided them.

Shyamalan has talent but unfortunately he also has an ego the size of a planet as displayed by casting himself as the saviour of the world in Lady In The Water :rolleyes:

Haven't seen The Happening but I do think the brickbats reserved for The Village were somewhat unfair.

The film is an allegory for the Bush years & the largely imagined terrorist threat.

Viewed as such it's a brave piece of work.

The twist has to be viewed in context of the allegorical plot.

The monsters are created by the village inhabitants in much the same way that the "war on terror" was drummed up by George Bush & his neo-con cohorts

It means I'm both dyslexic and currently have a massive cold, and it's making me speak crap like the inclusion of the erroneous "not" in my first post on the thread.

Sixth Sense - :)
Unbreakable - :cool
First 2/3 of signs - :), last 1/3 of Signs - :mad
The village - :yawn::(
Lady in the water - :sleep::mad:
The Happening - :mad:

My major problem with him is that he is a complete one trick pony, with that twist thing at the end. It works in Sixth Sense because it's new. I'm still not expecting it in Unbreakable, in Signs the twist is so poor it's not obvious that there will be one, and by the time The Village comes around not only was i looking for it, but it was very very easy to spot. I gave up on his films after that.

Nothing new about that twist at all. Anyone familiar with the old Twilight Zone and similar types of shows should have seen that twist comming the second he got shot.

I'm pretty much exactly the same, except for The Village. I guessed the twist in that from the trailer! (and I'm not being sarcastic, I actually did! Was shocked that I actually got it right, too!)

there are some great bits in both signs and the village - he does suspense very well

i really wanted to like the happening but it is genuinely as bad as all the critics said
