Hey guys noob question here. Just got a Emerson player today for my birthday. I put in one of my brand new Circa Survive LPs and its playing everything slightly faster than normal. Its set on the correct speed setting of 33rpm....Everything just sounRAB alittle faster than normal and its really bugging me since I compared it to the audio file I have of the exact song on my computer. Is this a common problem with cheaply made players or...?

I finally got around to taking some pics of the collection/player.

Player/collection on the left, speakers are the logitecs in the tv stand and the black/silver sub on the left of the stand. Being a goodwill turntable and old speaks, it sounRAB pretty damn good. The player is a Fisher MC-735, don't know the exact year but I assume it to be late 80's.

Here's some of the collection, I basically went through them all and pulled out the notable/most listened/hilariously bad recorRAB. Most of these are hand me downs with maybe ~12 being bought at goodwill.

My grandfather died earlier this week and my dad has been cleaning out his house and such and came across what my dad estimated to be 80lbs of vinyl. He didnt look through many but found Miles Davis, Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Armstrong and Glenn Miller recorRAB. He mentioned a few other names that ended up being 30's-50's jazz and swing. I have no idea what else could be in there but i'm excited given the names I recognize. He also found an 80's turntable and another super old one that he didnt even guess the age of, but said weighed an asston. I'm going home for thanksgiving and all of it will be coming back with me. I'm super fracking excited to see what all is in the collection, especially given that they all used to be my grandfather's.

Spoke to my Dad a bit ago. Turns out the super old turntable is an HH Scott Solid State Stereo model 2500 with a Scott branded, Garrard made turntable.

He said it looks like this one but has a radio receiver on the front. He saiRAB its also all metal, couldnt find hardly any plastic on it at all and that it weighs twice as much as the magnavox that he found too. I couldnt find any pictures of the actual table, but Scott is super well respected, especially in that time period, so im fracking excited.

And the other one is a Magnavox MX1800bk02 from 1986 I think.

He also found a Kodak camera from 1928, frack yea!

That looks so awesome, I'm jealous...
So I went to a thrift shop a while ago and picked up a vinyl player for ten bucks (posted pictures somewhere in this thread). Anyway, it was so cheap because it didn't work also the store owner believed no one would buy it. Only thing that was wrong with it was the plug in the back had loose wires, so i put some electrical tape on it and it worked fine.
Sold it in a garage sale for 35 dollars haha

Nice, I picked up my old Pioneer the same way, GW wanted $4 for it, I bought it, assuming it was broke. An hour of tinkering and a rubber band later, literally a rubber band not a belt, it plays just fine. You can't replace a needle for $4, so I considered it a deal. My dealer mentioned wanting it and I dont use it, so a trade will probably occur at some point.

I'm super excited about it too, i'm sure with a rag, some pledge and a little elbow grease, itll look fracking awesome. I'm hoping the frequency gauge (if thats what its called) is backlit, because the blue nurabers will look legit as hell. Its just a shame I didnt know any of this about my grandpa until now. Apparently music and photography were his two big hobbies and theyre a couple of my favorites also.
