Lovefilm/C.A.R.S

It's their job to collect debts. Did you expect him to run round and to say, "You're quite right, you don't owe this" ?

It surely wouldn't be up to the debt collection agency to deal with the dispute- that would be between yourself and LF.

After much to'ing and fro'ing i have got an appology from C.A.R.S and Lovefilm have agreed to stop asking for this non exsitant debt.

Funny thing is out of this whole argument is C.A.R.S till the end would not let me prove my case (ie bank statements from the day i signed up showing everything was paid)

They even had the cheek to blow off a call from Trading StandarRAB and Citizens Advice

I made a complaint to thier director and to the CEO of Lf.. it seems thats the way to go.

All sorted now, so all good. The service is still S**te tho.

Still think they should be brought on to Watchdog, as i'd like to see the guy in charge of this screw up explain his way and also who knows how many people DID actually pay them, no quibbles! Some bad PR is needed!

Just to help anyone who hasn't got experience in this area, do not contact CARS, even if you feel you may be in the wrong.

Contact LoveFilm with the info, explaining the situation, and demand that they contact the collection agency, and cancel any dealings they have with them regarding you.

You don't want to end up getting duped by the collection agency, and ending up with it on your credit record. :)

I have reported Lovefilm to watchdog - everyone else please do the same and hopefully they will investgate the matter.

Will keep you posted of any further correspondence.

I asked the Debt Collector for a phone number for love film. Aparently the have no phone number, they keep in contact through a messenger type system.

What are you talking about, when you cancel your subscription Lovefilm lock you out of your account.

i.e. you cannot log in to see if the last rentals have been received by them. How can you check the status of your account when it is closed and it says you are no longer a member when you try to log in?

MovieChoices IS Lovefilm. They took them over.

They (lovefilm) have also tried to sting my girlfriend for cash in which she ended a free trial sucessfully at another address.. so they are deffinatly "at it"

I had previously cancelled an account with them, & up until they had received all of my discs back I could login, I had no problems accessing my account at all.

because they dont listen to you, there is always more than 1 side to the argument and they wouldnt listen, they just assume that cos the debt has been passed to them your guilty.

as other cases on here have proved, it is not always the case

UPDATE

Today I had a letter from Love Film.

rough quote,

Dear xxxxx,

Blah, Blah, you have been removed from the collections list, blah blah, ignore any letters, and file them in the bin!
