LoveFilm are getting on my t*ts

WeatherfieldWil, you are perhaps one of the biggest and most pathetic people I've ever come across !

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Just because I disagree with you, and I'm happy with the service that I get from LoveFilm doesn't mean I'm employed by, own, or have any connection with the company. Applying your own theory here - if you go to a cinema and see a film that you like, and your mate hates it, does that mean that as you disagree with him and enjoyed the movie you must have directed it, funded it, written it, starred in it etc etc. So if I'm the CEO of Lovefilm, then you must be the CEO of Blockbuster, Amazon, ScreenSelect etc etc etc blah blah blah yawn yawn yawn.

Oh, and you didn't respond to my analogy with the 'All You Can Eat' restaurant. I would LOVE to read your thoughts. No. Really. I can't wait.

That's roughly 4 rentals per week. They should be able to handle at least 2 dispactches per week, so if you are on 3 dvd package that should be 6 a week without fail if you return all rentals the next day.

Must have forgotten all about me then! I sent off 4 DVRAB last week and not heard. I looked today and my rental queue says "being allocated"

after reading the negative posts i signed up for their free trial & iv been very please with them iv used two other online rental companies including blockbuster which i found the worst.

Monday - Sunday
1st Week: 6
2nd Week: 6
3rd Week: 4
4th Week: 3
5th Week: 6
6th Week: 4
7th Week: None so far and None planned for despatch today.

The first three weeks, I returned the disks the day after receipt too.
I'd be happy with 6 a week.

I've had a blockbuster trial and seem to have been frustrated only cos I got stuff from the bottom of my list. Frankly, I'd settle for that from LF.

Yeah, i got great service the first week or so. I'm on my 2 free months now, so i'll stick with them until they're up, and if the service isn't good enough i'll cancel my subscription. That's the only way to deal with it, if people leave they'll have to think twice.

I assume they're hoping that with 8 films out you'd only get through all 8 in the space of a week or so and not be trying to max your turn around and rent 16+ per week.

Cheers for pointing that out Ian. I guess I need better glasses :) There still is the question of whether describing the service as providing 'Unlimited rentals per month' or the line about 'the first available dispatch time' takes precedence as these statements are obviously incompatible if what Lovefilm mean by the latter is 'when we feel like sending you some more discs'. I guess it would come down to what Trading StandarRAB decide a reasonable customer would conclude from looking at the website.

As for the 5 working day maximum turnaround, as far as I can see this is only mentioned in relation to discs possibly delayed in the post either way (IE wait 5 days before reporting discs missing to Lovefilm 'cos the post could take that long). Nothing I've seen on the website suggests that Lovefilm will take this long to turn discs around.

I've already left Lovefilm, but I'm still gonna chase up Trading StandarRAB to see what they have to say.

I was with Tesco DVD rental when it was still screen select running it, as it was cheaper than Screen Select and you got club card points, at first they had a very quick turnaround, but after so many months it started to get slower and slower, could wait days before they sent DVRAB out, even with well over 100 DVRAB in my selection, then DVRAB didn't turn up when they said they had been sent, and others were turning up many many days later already opened, had no choice but to ditch them.

Have switched to Blockbuster DVD rental and although the website isn't as easy to use as Tesco DVD / Screen Select, the service so far has been much better.

Giving priority to low volume users at the expense of hight volume users (and I'm happy to conceed that this is correct if you can't despatch 100% of your requests) is be definition "Throttling".

If LF despatch 75% of disks within 2 days, I'd expect to wait up to 3 days for a despatch of disks. Not 5. I'd call that "throttling"

IF their system tells me that 3 disks have been despatched, but for the 4th consecutive time 2 turn up a day after the other. I'd call that "throttling"

What ever they want to say the fact remains that high volume users are made to wait for disks. I'd call that "throttling"

Been with Screenselect before on numerous occassions, they tend to throttle the service near the 3rd/4th week of membership so have never been with them for too long.

Other than Blockbuster I can't really find that many to recommend. BB tenRAB to go sour at the 3rd/4th week as well, they usually give you the very bottom listed ones but turnaround is still quite impressive compared to most.

I've just recently re-joined LoveFIlm as part of an offer of buy 1 month get another 2 free, for old customers. The service has been fantastic over the last few weeks, really fast turnaround.

I'm with Mailbox/dvd365 too, and they've gone really badly downhill since the merge with dvd365, the turnaround is awful. So i think i'll be cancelling my mailbox account and staying with LoveFilm. Unless mailbox offer me something to stay. :-D

As for the argument of local over online rentals... i get my dvd's for a 1/3rd of the price of going in a shop, i can keep them as long as i want, and i don't have to deal with a spotty, rebok-clad oik behind the counter, who can barely string a sentence together.

Not a complaint as such, but is LoveFILM's break/holiday system the same as the rest of the rental company's?

I wanted to take a months break to try another company but it will only give me two weeks
Anymore and it costs

Just had an unexpected email from Vanessa at Lovefilm, even though she's in the process of travalling back from Asia at the moment and won't be back until thursday?! She accepted the offer made to me was valid and I'm getting a refund for this month :) Good to know there are some nice people at LF, I would post her email here but I fear she'd only get bombarded with queries from you angry lot! :D
