LoveFilm are getting on my t*ts

I've been using online DVD remtal for about 8 months now, starting with Blockbuster, then ScreenSelect and now LoveFilm. I cancelled Blockbuster because I kept getting emails saying they had nothing available from my list, despite having over 40 in my queue. Screenselect started really well, but for the last 3 months I was only getting the rubbish from the bottom of my list, and only ever had about 3 newish titles in several months. When they started throttling my service, that was the final straw and I left them to join LoveFilm. I thought they were fantastic until the trial ended and I became a full member. I get DVRAB from the top half of my list, and in most cases my top 5 choices, but in the last two weeks I am sure they have started throttling. In fact, I'm new to this forum and only came across it while doing a google search on "lovefilm delay" to see if anyone else was experiencing the same problem - and obviously they are. So, I'll be cancelling LoveFilm and going back to Blockbuster. Although they have problems with availability at least they tell me that and don't let me worry about the DVRAB being lost in the post for nearly a week. I'd rather LoveFilm said that you can have a maximum of, say 24 a month on 3 rental basis, and stuck to it, than for them to say its unlimited and then throttle the service.

I still get through around 15-18 in a month, and don't have any probs wioth LoveFilm. And i'd be carefull when removing Royal Mail from the blame pool. I have sent things to people on a certain day, only for them to appear with them a week or two later, with the day befores date on them.

Got my last lot of films through in a plastic bag (one of the 'sorry we damaged them' bags :( ) with no envelopes and all soaking. Hmmm, which postie got to see Dead Man's Shoes, Breaking the Waves and Dancer in the Dark before me then, and then they got 'damaged'? Bet they were gutted they weren't big hollywood films.

Technically no. But the whole situation with 'dissing' another company is still very unclear.

But if a complaint was made against LF, what's the betting they'd make a scapegoat of the individual who made the remark?! Even if it is some gibbon reading a pre-prepared speech!!

They are just awful with no concern or respect for their customers.

Also, they claim to have the largest selection of DVD's in the UK, some 32,000. ScreenSelect now boast 33,000 since the merger with DVRAB365. Is this more bull$hit from LF?

I'm really happy with Blockbuster, even though they "process" the order all day. I think that applies until the DVRAB actually leave the warehouse because I always get an e-mail on the evening saying the DVRAB have been sent out.

Another thing that I'm pleasantly suprised with Blockbuster is that if a DVD is a "2 Disc" edition the two discs arrive and are counted as one rental. This doesn't apply for TV series with lots of discs though!

I suggest you email them and ask why it is consistantly taking 3 days to turn around your next selection if it is indeed that slow for you. If you fail to get results work out how many months are left and calculate a pro rata refund and DEMAND it as they are in breach of contract.

You have plenty of titles (I only have 10 on my list and got 3 sent on friday, returned 1 on sat and have had 1 sent out today) on screen select.

The only excuse they would be able to use is if all your titles are rare and/or popular. hardly possible when you have 200+!

His replies do appear very similar from the various users who have received a reply from him, he gets out a calculator works out how many DVRAB the customer has received and then works out how much each one costs.

i.e. Joe Bloggs rented 14 DVRAB in 1 month with LF. That's approximately

I think blockbuster are now throttling my account as they used to recieve a DVD and send it out the same day, however the last few days, my DVD's arent marked as recieved till about 3pm and then they are allocated and posted out a day later.

Any other online dvd rental companies you could recommend ?

Well I cancelled my Lovefilm 3 for 1 subscription a month or two ago and feel much better for it.

Frankly their ability to live up to their "unlimited" package was a joke, a lie, a fraud.

I'm waiting for a couple of months before I take up another free offer with somebody else and grab all the films I can.

It seems to me that ALL on-line rental firms do the same. Some are just worse than the others.

O dear !!!!
jacksback; has a part time job at Lovefilm this explains why he has missed the point which is when a company deceives you in order to gain your custom then this company can not be trusted, the point of taking a company to court under such circumstance is 1, to try and stop the company doing the same to other customers 2, to let other customers know and to alert them to the underhanded way that Lovefilm conduct their business.
family and friend used Lovefilm,s free trial for so I could prove my point they had no intension of joining, its people like you that allow companies to carry on exploiting the public, so what I say is only a FOOL would adopt your attitude unless of course you do work for Lovefilm?????.:)

God, I leave the thread 5 minutes and you all turn against me, accusing me of being the LoveFilm CEO, I guess it''s my turn to be Lovefilm CEO this week, considering ORM, I_Love_Lovefilm and Ratinho have all had the pleasure of being accused.

I now nominate/accuse Jamie Barry of being the Lovefilm CEO.

I hear what you are saying, I am currently with Screen Select who don't shift their arse with the turnanrounRAB, I just threaten to leave and they add credit to my a/c.

However, when you do the maths, 31p postage delivery to you and the same return = 62p X 3 (if thats the unlimited number that you have) =

while they have annoyed me at times with slow deliveries, theyve usually compensated me by sending 2 at a time when this has happened (im on 1 at a time deal).
Also i get 3 DVRAB a week these days, which is excellent (i usually watch them as soon as they arrive, and post straight back out).
Also considering i always pay for 1 month, and get 2 free, im happy. At the end of each 3 month period, i phone to cancel, and they just re up my offer.

I know, they've now changed their tune and asked you to do it , but ask yourself this...

...how the hell will it save any trees, as they've already sent you the envelopes to send the DVRAB back in individually !!

It just means that you throw it in the bin, instead of using to to post your dvd back in, with the added bonus for LF that it takes the pressure of them for an extra day or so as Royal Mail will downgrade your DVRAB to second class due to the extra weight !!

Do not get tempted by any free gift vouchers by these cowboys. Their definition of unlimited is a limit of around 9 movies per month on their 3 at a time package.

They have clearly got too many customers. I tried their 3 for 1 package again a few months back (why do I do these things) and was stung last week because they did not check my disks in for 6 days (before xmas) which meant being stung for
