"Love Actually" Does anyone actually LIKE this film?

Precisely. The only thing American about it was the cash.Richard Curtis lives in Suffolk, and still writes for the BBC. He has never lived in the USA.

I really love Love Actually. Well, apart from feeling really sorry for Emma Thompson's character. Yes, it's twee and the sort of film that goes well with mulled wine, but it has some great satirical moments (e.g. Hugh Grant on the special relationship, and of course "don't buy drugs"), and it just makes me want to sing "Christmas is All Around"!

I do generally like rom coms though...

made by Americans?

obviously, as a romcom it's not for everyone - but for me it was as good it's going to get, and Curtis' finest hour.

not too similar in style from his others, but just worked so well, with the whole interweaving of storylines, and the - for me - perfectly bookended by Grant's monologue at the airport at the start, and the Beach Boys track fading with all the difference images at the end.

cheesy? absolutely. but perfectly executed.

I blub every time I watch it! That bit with Emma Thompson and the cd... sigh. As I said earlier... one of my fave films along with Notting Hill and Steel Magnolias. I'm such a girl! haha

He can't survive on the good will he earned from Blackadder much longer, sooner or later he'll need to be punished for all of his other, terrible deeRAB.
