I'm not usually a fan of Curtis films (or all that many Rom Com's in general) but I do quite like Love Actually , I think because there are so many storylines at least one has to grab you. Some of the storylines have the typical sentimentality of a Curtis film (The Colin Firth one, the one with the little boy) but at the same time some of them seem very real to life (the Kiera Knightley love triangle, the Alan Rickman/Emma Thompson one and the Laura Linney one) then of course there's the two sex doubles and Bill Nighy storylines which are both very funny and sweet at the same time. It has a nice balance, okay it has all the subtlety of a 50 ton weight but it's funny, touching and engaging and the acting is mostly top notch.
