Love Actually #1 - "Love actually is all around"

True that. I love all four!

Emma Thompson's character makes me tear up in this movie, the scene in her bedroom after she opens the christmas gift. :(

Favorite film of all time. And I don't just watch it at xmas. Ok, I HAVE to watch Love Actually and The Holiday every xmas as I'm a hopeless romantic but I watch it all the time. I have two favorite parts and their connected to my two favorite songs on the soundtrack! Hugh dancing round Downing street (Can't get it out of my head when it comes on my iPod) and going to America. When he talks about going Maroon 5's Sweetest Goodbye is playing in the car. I'm a die hard M5 fan. But I also like Colin Firth coming out the lake. Since Pride & Prejudice the producers of movies have tried to fit as many clingy wet shirt scenes into films for him as possible! e.g. Bridget Jones 2 him and Hugh Grant in the pond outside the national gallery, the latest St. Trinians at the hockey match...

Yeah. Their story was what made me cry the most. Especially Karen breaking down in their bedroom.

I know, I  Hugh Grant. So adorable.

And yes, Emma Thompson is an amazing actress. All the actors in the movie are incredible, actually. That's part of its greatness. :)

My favorite story line is the Hugh Grant one. He's just so charming!

Also how great was Emma Thompson in this movie...her scene in the bedroom is heartbreaking and her scene where she says the following:

Karen: Would you wait around to find out if it's just a necklace, or if it's sex and a necklace, or if worst of all it's a necklace and love? Would you stay, knowing life would always be a little bit worse? Or would you cut and run?
Harry: Oh, God. I am so in the wrong. The classic fool.
Karen: [voice breaking] Yes, but you've also made a fool out of me, and you've made the life I lead foolish too.

Gah, it gets me everytime :(

Hello all  Could I be added to the supporters list? :flowers: This is my all time fav Romance film, and it's great to see there's still a support thread for it!

I added you. :)

I totally agree..."Love Actually" and "The Holiday" are my favorite Christmas movies! :)

That is such a cute connection between your parents and the movie! That's another great thing about this movie...everybody gets something different from it. There are so many little connections to people's lives.

If any of you guys have any favorite quotes, feel free to PM them to me or post them here and I can add them to the opening post. :)

yeah u are right , btw in that movie I liked hugh more than colin :D
that shameless womanizer, liar but at the same time so adorable , and his dancin scene in love actually  he knows how to shake that booty

btw I don't know if Im in the list

Becca-
Definitely. There's just something appealing about him. :)

And...you don't own it?!? ;)

lostpinguin- Welcome to the thread! :)

I definitely love both of those story lines as well. Although the Keira Knightley one makes me really sad. But I do kind of want someone to come to my door and do that. :)

potuguese soccer players are  (so OT  )
so true  american ones are sometimes predictable like remakes of the same movies all over again

other brit movie I like is "The Bridget Jones diaries" and I think is the same guy who directed this movie pure  also some awesome brit actors are in it too Hugh Grant, Colin firth

Can I be added to the list please? This is just the perfect Christmas film. Well this and The Holiday.

taovande - I sometime get depressed watching films like this, it does highlight what you're missing in your own life I guess, but I try to watch films like this with my girlfriends, preferably the single ones, so I don't get as sad. :D

Great character of the moment, I love Colin Firth's storyline because it's so similar to my parents, my Mum is Portuguese my Dad is English, they met and she moved to England to be with him, just like she did. Although, I don't think my Dad proposed in Portuguese in a restaurant to rapturous applause!

obrigado...

for me one thing i looove in this movie too is that it's british... they have a special thing for romantic comedies... they're all special... still haven't been caught up in "everything is the same" like the american ones...

This is one of my favourite movies. I always put this one on if I'm in need of a cheer up. Colin Firth, Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant and Liam Neeson all in one movie would always attract my attention :-)

I know! Her voice is amazing. And she was so young when she recorded that too. When I first watched the movie, I was a little depressed by some of the stories, but once I accepted those, I loved the movie. It does have a great overall message. :)
