Longest Running Animated Property?

I just dragged out Dragonball GT again for something a bit different, and despite some confusing moments, it really is a better ending than the Buu saga was.

But, it got me thinking. How many episodes did Dragonball have, across all series? Was it the longest running animated show, along with the Simpsons?

I forgot all about scooby.

I don't count the turtles in this case, because it's not one big continuing story, like the Dragonball series is. DB had not rebooted, just continued.
Scooby I will count, because those where never really continuation stories anyway :).

Are we talking about the series itself or the property in general?

Because Winnie the Pooh is older than Mickey Mouse by a year.

And Felix the Cat's been around longer than anything already mentioned in this thread.

These are some of the shows I could come up with that have passed 100 episodes:

Sazaesan - 2000+ episodes
Doraemon - 1049 (Original Series)
Pokemon - 535+
Dragonball Saga (includes Z and GT) - 508
Detective Conan (Case Closed) - 496+
Smurfs - 421
Simpsons - 412+
One Piece - 344+
Scooby Doo Where Are You? - 274
King of the Hill - 225+
Yu-Gi-Oh! - 224
Naruto - 220
Sailor Moon (All Series) - 200
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) - 194
Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - 180
Prince of Tennis - 178
South Park - 167+
Rugrats - 167
Inuyasha - 167
Flintstones - 166
Bleach - 161+
Ranma 1/2 - 161
Arthur - 155+
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003) - 143
GI Joe: A Real American Hero - 140
Thundercats - 130
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - 130
Garfield and Friends - 121
Doug (Both Nick and Disney) - 117
Captain Planet and the Planeteers - 113
Yu Yu Hakusho - 112
Muppet Babies - 107
Tiny Toon Adventures - 102
Alvin and the Chipmunks - 101

Wow, the Smurfs really went on that long? I would have guessed only a third of that number. 400+ of Smurfs is a tad too much Smurfiness to take :)

You forgot to mention the 2K3 Turtles series, which currently has 142 episodes and it'll be at 155 if you count the upcoming seventh season (this makes it the longest still-running American-animated action show).

Yu-Gi-Oh GX also passed 100 episodes too by having 180 episodes when it ends this April so you should add that one in too.

Are you including Shippuden too? If so, the total would come to 272.

In terms of seasons (and not counting franchises like the many Scooby-Doo and Super Friends [and Dragon Ball, I s'pose] shows), Wikipedia has these as the top 5 in the United States:

The Simpsons (premiered 1989)
Arthur (premiered 1996)
King of the Hill (premiered 1997)
South Park (premiered 1997)
Pokemon (premiered 1998)

And Pokemon has the most episodes out of all of these.

Assuming theatrical cartoons count, Looney Tunes might be a strong candidate (1100+ cartoons and running in theaters from 1930 to 1969).

But assuming longest-lived cartoon character, I'd give it to Felix the Cat.
