LOL @ the idea that HDTV isnt needed in gaming v.Wiifanboys

don't get me wrong, i like HDTV. but don't really need/want to buy one.

in fact, I just bought a TV a couple months back, a 23" LCD. I went with 480p rather than 720p/1080i. I saw HD programming both of them, played GR:AW on both to compare and went with 480p.

when the quality of HD gets to the point where one could make that B/W to color TV comparison and mean it, then i'll agree with you. but at this point, show me 1080p and 480i side by side and i'll show you how to save $2,000.

We have direct TV.... Its easier for me to just click to my favorite torrent site and add the next episode of whatever tv show to my queue...

knowing how to use a computer FTW...

i agree. HDTV's are still rather expensive, i can't see people who live in apartments and such justify spending all their money on an HDTV.

how do you figure that? if youve bought a TV in the last 2 years or so, theres a VERY good chance it was HD (unless you bought some shitty ass 20" or something)

go to any retail store, theres not a TV over 27" that isnt HD anymore...

the more shocking stat to me is the 66% of peopel that are still living in the dark ages with Standard Def. Id kill myself at this point rather than watch normal tv

Not only am I a super e-rich fanboy, but me and my supermodel wife had the seats in our matching enzo's wrapped in the hides of babies that came from families with a gross income of under 380k /yr.

now give me my award

I believe a year or two ago, a regulating agency mandated that TV builders include an HD or at least digital tuners all TV's built above a certain size.

Sadly I know TONS of people who own pricey HD capable sets, that don't have any HD programming, nor do they know that the awful picture they are watching isn't HD.

I just bought a new hdtv, and while hd signals looks like like pure sex, I still have fun with the wii in 480i (haven't gotten component cables yet).

well considering LCD sales are above conventional tube tvs in both the US and Europe, and that most LCDs are HDTV and even some tube TVs can do 1080i, even if HDTV doesn't have a HUGE install base, most people who go to buy a TV nowadays get an HDTV.
