I have been with BellTv for 5 years. I originally had 2X3100 that were never connected to a telephone line an installed by a Bell tech. Never got a call to inventory my receivers. I changed my 2X3100 for a single 5900 rental, so therefore installed by a Bell tech. I then added another 5900, that time, self installed, and never got a call from Bell. I added a 9200, installed by a Bell tech, not connected to a telephone line, and still didn't get a call from them. I sold my 2X5900 and bought a 9242, self installed, and so far, never got a call from them.
The technicians usually don't enforce BellTV's policies that each receiver must be connected to a telephone line. Therefore, even if the receivers are installed by one of their technians they don't take for granted that you are not "sharing" your suscription or using it at the cabin or cottage. If your receivers don't "dial out" , no matter if you self installed or if you got a professional installation you will be put on the "to call" list of SAT team.
