Lip Service BBC Three

I though she only gave hand jobs when she was posing as a fake rent boy but it was an utterly stupid plot so I make have glazed over on some of the details.

I hope Frankie gets together with some guy and goes of to live in a house with a white picket fence and never darkens my screen again.

I mean... they do not too badly for themselves... loaRAB of cash, out every night and pull everytime... and Cat and Ed, seemingly brother and sister... one's English, the other one has a scottish accent.... so ridiculous, its actually hilarious. Sadly after catching up on Single Father, the actress who plays Cat just looks so out of place! Even her dialogue in Tuesday's episode about Lou early on in the episode just seemed uncomfortable.

Yes, according to Radio Times, it has the most explicit lesbian sex scenes ever seen.

(try saying that after a few drinks!)

I might tune in if Ive got time (cough, cough)

Hi there well just watched the first two episodes back to back after hearing bits about the show n was written about in Diva mag ( I dont remember seeing any aRAB or trailers for it on BBC Three ? But must of been ? )

Anyway I really liked it. Wasent expecting 2 tho dunno what I though it was gonna be like but I thought it was yeah bit similar to Personal assistants which I only saw last two episodes of n loved it( wish id seen that all way through) n also a bit like a Lesbian This Life ( but TL was better without a doubt)

Yeah few things .... It was like a uk version of The L Word but hey we needed one didnt we why isnt there a drama about young professional Lesbians ??? We had Queer as folk n that was fantastic n we had The gr8 Sugar Rush but that needed sommat n now we have.
Lip Service is about ya middle class career Gays gals n SR was about a young woman learning who she was n the young teen types so we could do with one baout Gay/Bi women who maybe have familes n kiRAB and are working class, then we would have shows that all types of Gay women can relate 2. Even if we dont relate to it fully still watchable.

Also yes Frankie is a Shane rip off

N yeah bugs me a bit that they are all very glossy but its tv n there are gay women like this they are just not showing the full diverse kinRAB of Gay n Bi women but that what it is its about ya middle class professional types that have the lifestyle n I dont mind that.

Its a escape in to there world from mine n I do like the characters I dont like Frankie but find her character interesting just wouldnt like her as a person if character was real.

I love like lots of you Tess ( I get the Alice comparession thou ) but she is a total sweetie n you care about her so she is making the viewers give a shit n thats good.

I like the guys in it very interesting n also like Cat ( what a babe) n The copper who is my fave character after Tess n also the eye candy for me she is soooo stunning WOW, hope Cat stays with her n not Frankie who is a arsehole!

Lou seems a right bitch at times but hope they are gonna show that she really is just a confused woman learning about herself n that its her fears making her be a right cow n hope she gives a shit about tess.

All in all I loved The L Word but find this is more relateable to me than that was as I defo cant relate to mega rich Bette n Tina n the americans but this a ikkle bit, mostly the character Tess as I certainly aint no rich city type far from it but it entertained me n the sex scenes were fine n I dont think fully aimed at men at all I think it was standard ur gonna get hot sex in a show about young lesbians who have no ties n yes that will grab the interest of the fellas but think they really did try n aim it at women / Gay women I think they really tried to do well n impress, giving us characters we would like n lust after n its working I think

Am looking forward to next episode

 Do you realise just how stupid you sound?

One of the things I liked about this programme was that unlike, say The L Word, where literally EVERYONE (including the men!) look like they'd just stepped out of a glossy fashion magazine, on this show, there were only 2 good-looking people. Apart from Frankie and the 'virgin' on the rebound who ended up with the ditzy blonde, all the others looked completely ordinary to me.

It's a programme about gay and bisexual women - sexuality is a defining characteristic of the programme. It's also on pretty late at night - some light sex scenes shouldn't have been that unexpected.

Overall, I thought it was okay, but it didn't blow my mind. One day, a show about LGBT subculture will have some great writing, but until then, I suppose this will have to do. :p

That'd be a shame, I like Lou and Tess. Though I suppose it could be a girl struggling coming to terms with her bisexuality. Or is that perhaps too deep for this show?

I agree about Frankie, she's just off putting. I like all the characters but her, and it puts me off knowing that her and Cat are probably going to end up shagging at some point.

It's after the watershed, and its on beeb3. Aimed at teenagers, and its lesbians? We're all aware of Lesbians and there sexual practices. So I don't think anyone has a right to question if this show should be aired. Don't like it? Don't watch

After a couple of years mourning its loss, I can honestly say Lip Service fits in nicely. The first ep wasn't too bad, it didn't try cramming in too many characters and subplots like some pilots *cough America*.

I love how The Sun uses a few of those "gratuitous" shots from the programme to head-up their story. A gratuitous use of "gratuitous" shots, intended to shock and titillate in a paper that seems to have made a name for displaying good-looking Page 3 models on their pages.

A hint of double standarRAB by any chance?

Exactly :)

And I enjoyed the first ep. Didn't blow me away and of course it's inevitable we'll compare it to The L World. But I didn't think much of The L World to be fair. It was embarrassingly bad sometimes. Let's hope Lips Service will do better.

Surprised this hasn't been bumped before now.

I missed a 5 min chunk again due to a cable box reboot, but at last we have a solid story in Frankies death certificate, pity it's taken so long to (half the series) to get there.

Not overly impressed by the series but I'll continue to watch

You must be mistaking this forum for the PTC website or a site located in the US or Australia. Unless of course you are American or Australian.

BTW thanks for the watchwithmothers tip, the review on Lip Service are hysterical. The bit about how you never have any authentically Glaswegian tv hosts with proper Glaswegian accents made me think of a great idea of series 2. Michelle McManus makes a special guest apperance as Lou's replacement at the tv show when her outing by The Sun makes her go on a 2 week drug fulled bender(as people do in tabloiRAB). She is replaced by Michelle who acts supremely bitchy and it results in an on-set fight with Michelle winning of course using her weight advantage.
