Hi, I've been thinking of this for awhile and want to learn more.

Since evolution and natural selection have led Humans to have traits and other things programmed into our minds and bodies that are beneficial to our survival, and the speed at which Culture evolves and changes is incredibly faster than the speed of which Evolution and natural selection take place, are certain primitive instincts and behavior that out ancient ancestors used still viable for modern day life?

For example, we instinctively have the need to have sex and reproduce, and this has sometimes been called a factor as to why people cheat, because, without really thinking about it, they want to spread their genes. There are many other examples of primitive instinct that we still use. Anway, since in those ancient times, humans were in much higher risk of death, and so wanted to reproduce as much as possible, for as quickly as possible. In modern times, however, we can live without fearing for my lives most of the time. Will humans evolve to get rid of these types of insticts, since we have no use for them in modern day times?

Sorry that I've gone on a bit, and might have not made complete sense, but I think you'll get the general picture of what I'm saying :) Thanks alot!

Yeah i can see what you mean :) id connect DE-evolution to big brother and celeb culture..
i dont think anyone gets rid of instincts..they become redundant as we adapt. its been proven that teh same species of bird in one part of the world may have slightly different features to that of another part of the world.
Was our coxix part of a tail that we no longer needed? if we evolved from monkeys obviously we'd have opposible thumbs on our feet...yet because we walk, out feet have adapted because we dont need that skill anymore..although i confess i like bananas..
