Lines that make you cringe

Literally or not literally, what line(s) in animated series make you cringe?

-The CN-edited scene of Lindsay telling off Heather in the Total Drama Island episode "That's off the Chain!". Originally a long beep to imply she was cussing, it was replaced with "no-good, selfish, heartless, pushy, bossy, mean, bully of a girl".
There's something that triggers me to facepalm whenever I hear that line. They have a 16-year old character saying a line that one would expect a 7 year old to say. Sure, Lindsay is the "stupid" character.. but really, now.

-Yumi's dialogue while being kidnapped my the XANA-possessed Mr. Delmas in the Code Lyoko episode "Ultimatum". The way Mirabelle Kirkland spoke the line just really makes me cringe. I don't know why. It just.. does. For that matter, most of Aelita's lines in Season 1 were annoying. Thankfully, she got better dialogue in later seasons.

There is one line from X-Men: Evolution that never fails to make me cringe. It's the season 1 episode in which Spyke says to another character, "Watch it, man. I nearly toohpicked ya!"

"I nearly toothpicked ya"? Really??

It's bad enough that the producers chose to saddle Spyke with one of THE lamest mutant powers on record (shooting bony spikes from his body--who in the world thought that was a good idea? The character Razorback's mutant ability to instinctively know how to operate any vehicle in the Generation X paperback novel Crossroads is a cooler power than that--not to mention more useful), but then they have the poor kid utter dialogue like that without a tinge of irony.

That and whenever Kurt/Nightcrawler would call himself "da fuzzy dude" in the series, a little piece of me would die inside.

Any line in Fairly Oddparents were a character throws in the word "totally". "Aw man, mom and dad are gonna totally kill me!" or "Aw man, now Mr. Crocker is gonna totally give me an F!" Hey Timmy, totally shut up.

Any time Aladdin appeared in the animated series and said something along the lines of, "It's over Abis Mal!" or "Not so fast, Mozenwrath!" Corny beyond belief.

This is why I prefer "Ben 10: Alien Force", among other reasons.

For me, any line spoken during a fight scene on "Danny Phantom" wins the thread. Just...ugh. They tried for comic book style, but comic books are light-years ahead in terms of the banter on this show.

It's not really specific to any show, but anytime a character says "we're in for a bumpy ride!" or "I guess it can't get any worse... I guess I spoke too soon" I just want to turn the TV off. I can't believe shows still use those lines from time to time.

Usually any lines about friendship in many cartoons are cringe-worthy too, simply because of the lack of subtlety.

The writing team who did shows like Transformers: RiD and SD Gundam Force seemed to take specific pleasure in satirising some of the more stupid generic action dialogue. Likewise, Checkerboard Nightmare once had the main character create a generic sci-fi concept where literally every second line from the baddy was 'That's what you think!", even when it made no sense.

That line made me cringe too. But, when I re-recorded that episode, I taped over that line with a five-second footage from another cartoon that doesn't make you cringe. You should try it sometimes.

Lines that make me cringe are when Character A faints or is crying, Character B says s/he is taking things really well or the other way around of Character A cheering and Character B says that s/he is taking things really hard.

Another one, both used in cartoons and live-action Disney/Nick kidcoms, was when a character gets chased by an angry mob or gets beaten up by one, instead of doing the satisfying action of stopping the angry mob, the people do nothing and say lines about going somewhere else, like a coffee break. This doesn't satisfy me, this hurts me!

For example, I saw this new episode on The Suite Life On Deck last Friday, where Zack becomes the hall monitor that had an ending like that. Let's just say I went crazy for this episode.

In the second Lion King, when Timon and Pumbaa were looking for Kiara, Timon makes a comment like "This kid needs a beeper!". Not only was it out of place, but its dates the movie to 1998.

Oh god, I totally agree! I want to throw my tv everytime I see that...

and ok ok, I'm sorry for more family guy hate but really. That scene where stewy asks brian about the novel he's working on... It makes me angry every time.
(also for those wondering why I hate family guy so much, yet I knoew about it. I used to watch it when I got bored. But then after awhile I started to really hate it so yeah.)

For me it has to be the writing on Lloyd in Space, like whenever Lloyd would say something like "Sweet Mother of Muffton!"

The Battletoads' battle cry and their lame slang, like "Cosmorific!" Who the hell says Cosmorific and gets away without getting stared at after saying it??

I will agree that Aladdin's lines in the animated series were cheesy at best.

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog -- Whenever Sonic said "Way past cool!" and "Gotta speed, keed!"

I can't even say "I'm ready." without thinking about SpongeBob now, and that's a guilty pleasure cartoon for me.

Like Battletoads, Rocket Power's slang makes me cringe. Who says "I beefed it!" or calls the new guy "Squid" without making a reference to Rocket Power??

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Oh my Gosh, Judy Jetson too.

"Thanks, dad! You're outergalactic!"

"Whoa, this is orbital!"

Hearing Tiffany say them in the movie makes it even worse.

I can't think of any specifically, but I'm thinking of lines that are used in fights. Particularly Bleach and Dragon Ball Z. Since both shows often have staring contests, they also have really annoying and stereotypical lines to go with them.

I know. I ALMOST cringe at that line. Here's a moment that I actually DID cringe at.

In an episode of The Powerpuff Girls, after Buttercup and Elmer Sglue [who has transformed into a giant glue monster] make up after she apologizes for making fun of him, she says "Let's stick together!"

I know the PPG likes to use cheesey puns, but REALLY. I literally cringed when I heard that. I wish I was exaggerating.

Not a line in the show, but I hate this lyric of the Bucky O'Hare theme song...

Just...no. A shame too, since otherwise I kinda like the theme.

On the last episode of the dubbed version of Pani Pon Dash, Rei says this...out of nowhere line (I don't think it's 100% accurate, but it goes something like this):

"School's too cool, daddy-o!"

Nobody uses that phrase anymore, so why must they make her (she's usually bossy) say this type of slang?

That long bleep to imply she was cussing is ripping off an episode of the far superior Arrested Development where Buster Bluth starts letting loose on his mother with a bleep going on for about 15 seconds.

More evidence to show Total Drama Island is an unoriginal show.

 Okay. No offense, but I doubt they would do that. I've seen several shows that do that kind of gag. By that logic, Arrested Development ripped off SpongeBob since Mr. Krabs when on a cuss-filled rant that was censored in one episode.

Well, there was this really groan worthy line from a Super Mario Bros Super Show episode. It was a Jack & the Beanstalk parody and Mario & Luigi had to sell the Princess' royal cow(Don't ask) and Mario says this. "Come on Luigi, let's how much this guernsey can earn-sey." :ack:

I've seen the Spongebob episode and if you are referring to Sailor Mouth, that gag was nothing at all like the gag in TDI or Arrested Development. The gag in AD was a long uninterrupted bleep for about 15 seconds while in Sailor Mouth he was getting bleeped for probably 5 seconds and it was interrupted as he was saying random words not in the same sentence.
