Libertarian is the only party with real hope

For all we know you're not even a voter, or even live in America

Again, give us a link to one well know libertarian who wants to reject the Lee BBA as too quick, you can't because they don't exist

the libertarian philosophy, with some caveats, is the only philosophy that actually respects individuals and doesn't overburden society

Because Democrats think a BBA is stupid (you run deficits in bad times, surpluses in good) only right-wingers have put forward BBA language

Both tea party and libertarian amendments make it basically impossible to raise taxes, so if passed in 2011 as designed, it would require a 44% cut in federal spending by 2012

Problems-

1) 80%+ of the electorate polled doesn't want significant cuts

2) Such a radical change overnight would create an economic nightmare and widespread social chaos

The Libertarian one is even worse because its coupled with an immediate policy change of eliminating about 95% of federal revenue

We might have to do things like cancel all social security payments, kick out all elderly patients getting life-saving treatment and put them on the curb to die in minutes, immediately disband the entire military, and all sorts of nonsense

Medicare for all, massive regulation of financial markets, expansion of unemployment benefits, more complete housing assistance, stronger food stamp services

Defunding most of the military, complete withdrawal from overseas operations, close gitmo, gay marriage as federal law, trials for all terrorists

Massive improvement

What? Really?

I don't know anything about libertarian or whatever but that doesn't sound like it could possibly be right. SounRAB like you made it up to argue against it, as if I were to say "The liberals want to make 90% of all pregnancies end in abortion and put 90% of the country on welfare programs!"... which of course is not true at all and is obviously ridiculous.

Libertarian platform:

repeal of the income tax

+

"Balanced Budget Amendment" to the U.S. Constitution, provided that the budget is balanced exclusively by cutting expenditures, and not by raising taxes.

=

95% cut in federal spending

Since the budget is passed every year, the budget would have to match next year or it would be unconstitutional and the government would have to completely shut down...until they agreed to cut spending by 95%

Nothing in that gives a time table for those changes of 1 year... Nor do you address alternative sources of federal income to substitute for the repeal of the income tax.

In short, it is a goal, not a mandate.
